COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Jaw-Jacker balances our finest malted barley with a bit-o-wheat and is complimented with a citrus hop kick and just the right amount of cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice for a nice marriage of pumpkin pie and beer. Made in the fall to celebrate the changing of the season.

Danís Bachelor Party Extended Weekend Rating #26 of 90. Tap at Arcadia, shared taster (hands down best taster offering Iíve ever had...a total of 9-3oz pours for $7.99). Pours clear orange. Pumkin, spices and giner nose with flavors that follow. I little bite on the throat, but pretty good overall.

Orange-amber body with a clinging white head. The aroma stands out immediately and is dominated by spices. Smells like potpouri. Pretty smooth mouthfeel, a bit oily. The spices are not as prominent in the flavor. More of the pumpkin flavor comes through there. Finishes somewhat sour. Not a bad pumpkin beer.

Aroma: Pumpkin pie aromas clearly evident, with hints of citrus hops, but not too much. Appearance: Cloudy orange with no head. Taste: Medium sweetness throughout with hints of sourness in the finish. Palate: Medium body, dry texture, soft carbonation, long finish. Overall: The best pumpkin ale Iíve tasted this season (2013). Itís very pumpkiny, despite having no actual pumpkin in the recipe, with the spice flavors apparent, but tempers it with the hops for great flavor. I really enjoyed this one.

Bottle. Pours a hazy, brown-orange color with a thin off white head that quickly dissipates. Traces of some sediment. Lots of baking spices in the aroma, with cinnamon and allspice being most dominant. There is some fresh pumpkin and toasted malt in the background. Overpowering spices and a faint smokey flavor drown out any pumpkin that may be in here and leaves a slight medicinal aftertaste. Disappointing because I enjoy these spices in my Fall seasonals when balanced properly.

A lot of pumpkin ales are just seasonal silliness, but a couple have the ability to overcome that stigma and present a truly well brewed beer with interesting flavors and unique palates. Jaw Jacker is one of those pumpkin ales with a hell of a punch of barley, wheat, and spices. A decent example of a pumpkin beer that tastes as good as the idea of a pumpkin beer sounds, Jaw Jacker is an autumnal pleasure.

The best thing about this beer is that it looks like apple cider. The smell, oddly similar to over-ripe bananas, is off-putting. The flavor is lacking. Thereís a harsh bite to it (someone on the site called it sour and I agree), which makes it difficult to enjoy.

Slightly hazy, dull copper. Medium head, moderate lacing. Mild pumpkin, heavier spice, and moderate bready malt aromas. Slight roasty notes. Foamy, almost over-carbonated. Bit of sourness on the palate that doesnít really do it for me, and that citrus hop bittering just doesnít fit either. Way more pumpkin on the palate than in the aroma, almost too much. More character than some pumpkin ales but not to my liking.

Pours a hazy amber color with a small white head. Highly spiced aroma, can definitely pick out the cinnamon here. The body is a little thin, light. Some pumpkin pie spice here, with a faint cinnamon finish. Not overly complex, average.

OK pumpkin ale with more spices than pumpkin. If you feel like you have to drink something with pumpkin in it this would be fine...then you could move on to a beer that taste good. A one and done beer for me...

I just got this as part of a pick six at my local shop. It pours a clear dark, almost reddish brown. On the nose, you definitely get the spices listed on the bottle, very much a fall-time beer. The flavor is sweet, with a bit of sourness on the finish, but very tasty, and very balanced. I think this be at least an 85 overall. Cheers!
