This spiced amber-wheat ale is our celebration of the arrival of Autumn. Using the finest malted barley and a small amount of wheat for mouthfeel, Jaw-Jacker displays a brilliant orange-amber color, despite the absence of pumpkin in the recipe. The addition of cinnamon, all-spice and nutmeg (in the exact proportions of a family pumpkin pie recipe) creates a refreshingly spicy, season brew.

Murky solid orange pour with dense but short offwhite head. Strong aroma of nutmeg and allspice, some cinnamon, sweet chai tea, faint hints of metallic noble hops too. Low carbonation, creamy mouthfeel, bitter but clean finish. Taste is similar to the aroma but stronger noble hop presence, noticeable ginger, yeast is present too and somewhat belgian, wheaty, banana. Well done but a bit sweet to call a favorite personally.

Itís nutmeg and water. Thatís it. The aroma fools you. High Aroma that is spiced and warm. The flavor was weak. It was low at first, water and ale had no taste. Then you get a nutmeg taste, thatís it. Like you licked the spoon or something. Palate is watery. Color is decent. Tap

On tap @ Rattle íNí Hum Brown and hazy with with a thin head. Aroma of spices and fruit, with a distinct cherry cough drop note. Some caramel malts and a light hoppiness. Dry and medium bodied.

Has the most pleasing "pumpkin" appearance of any pumpkin ale Iíve ever had: a beautiful, deep rich orange. Not overly sweety, mostly strong spice character stands out than pumpkin flavor. Spice wise, itís more of a ginger/allspice profile than a cinnamon/nutmeg one. Nice nose. Bright on the tongue.

I’m a big fan of pumpkin beers, so this one had my attention. Poured orange with some sediment at the bottom, medium head. Aroma is in line with many others in the style, light with spices on top of medium malts and light hops. This beer did not have much flavor compared to others, but would probably fair quite well back-to back with some of the more commercially available pumpkin beers. Decent, but not one I’ll get again.

DATE TASTED: October 22, 2015 ... GLASSWARE: Schneider Wiesen Edel-Weisse pokal... OCCASION: another good Thursday ends with some beer... APPEARANCE: lazy, hazy, off-white head that settles to a consistent halo; body is an orange-amber, equally hazy body with slight effervescence--a fitting, Autumnal view... AROMA: light gingerbread, nutmeg and pumpkin spices allure the nostrils; a wheaty clove spice... PALATE: thin, wheaty in consistency; smooth and easy drinking--a bit too easy?... TASTE: a mellow, blunted impact that belies the aroma; nutmeg and pumpkin spices are clearest, with cinnamon and allspice or pepper developing the profile into a larger-than-expected flavor experience; the lightness of body plays out in the flavor, allowing for a swift sipping and a reasonably enjoyable quality... OVERALL: not sure how to take this one at first, with its lightness exhibiting a wheat beer, its ABV upwards of an ale, and a taste that blend the two... intriguing enough to encourage another bottle--a possibility, but not a necessity...

Murky amber, thin beige head settling towards a ring, minimal lace. Aroma captures the best elements of pumpkin pie, not just the spices, but the caramelized sugars and earthiness of the pumpkin, too. Great smelling beer. Flavor doesnít quite live up, abundant cinnamon, cidery amber malts, citrus, the flavors are all there, but not working together. Thereís some of that orange juice and toothpaste disharmony going on. Medium body, lively in terms of spices but slightly flat in term of carbonation.

Bottle. Medium light tan head. No lacing. Cloudy apple cider color. Aroma of cinnamon and allspice. Taste of the same. This was a great seasonal beer from the folks at Arcadia. Very satisfying and extremely drinkable. Perfect for a late fall evening. I will definitely look forward to this beer next fall.

Bottle. 8/15/13. Pours a translucent gold-amber color with a thin, just off-white head. Aroma is nice, rich; pumpkin, vanilla, clove, all spice, cinnamon, touch of sour. Taste is very fresh pumpkins, spices (nutmeg, clove, all spice), some cinnamon, touch of citrus. No lacing. Medium-low carbonation. Slick mouth feel. The idea here is pretty fantastic, using the citrus and the wheat in conjunction with the pumpkin. It produces a fairly elevated pumpkin flavor. Unfortunately, there isnít much of it. I would like a more intense flavor profile.

Pours a reddish golden color with very large bubbles up and down the glass. The thin white head is gone almost immediately. The aroma is very full and complex. All of the pumpkin pie spices are there in force. The flavor is farily rich as well with the ubiquitous pumpkin ales allspice, cinnamon, and nutmeg, along with a biscuity malt flavor and relatively powerful hops. The mouthfeel is weird in that the large bubbles feel sharp on the palate, but overall this is a solid pumpkin beer, which means a lot from me.
