COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Step into the Scottish Highlands with this authentic Strong Scotch Ale. A lovely and deep garnet color is joined by the aroma of plums and toffee in this unique and special ale. Brewed with Maris Otter malted barley from Crisp Maltings, Ltd. in England, the rich and full-bodied feel of this beer brings out flavors of caramel and roasted chestnuts, which is balanced with a clean and crisp alcohol finish, and just the right amount of lingering hop bitterness. A real treat!

Poured from 12 oz. bottle in Manistique, MI. Clear, sparkling deep, dark mahogany with a khaki head and excellent lacing. Aroma of sweet dark malt, plums and gunpowder. Taste of plums, dark malt, peat, vanilla and a soured stale beer flavor that totally ruins an otherwise fairly average beer. Medium body and medium/low carbonization. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nice beer. Out of the bottle and no head, but still pretty tasty. I would buy it again.

Poured dark red/brown into a pub glass. Even I notice the taste of sweet plums. Smooth mouthfeel but a sour after-taste.

Pours a brown color with a foamy white head that disappears quickly. Has a sour caramel and scotch aroma. Flavor is weak scotch with some caramel. Itís also sour, but not in a good way. Iím not sure if the bottle was old, but this just seems off. Has a light body feel. Pretty disappointing, especially for a style I generally enjoy.

Bottled end of January, listed 8% ABV, served "cool." Pours a deep amber to brown with a thinner beige head that produces a ring and film along with some spotted lace. Nose involves some vinous almost grapey or cherry type stuff, plenty of darker malt character, brown sugar and molasses, almost some floral notes, some sourdough. Quite sweet flavor, also fairly bitter and a pinch tart. Fuller bodied, oily, softer yet fluffy, with a lengthy fruity and toasted bitter (and somewhat warming) finish. Iím digging this. Itís maybe a little fruitier than some other similar beers, but it has a nice round complexity and yet a drinkability to it that is quite enjoyable.

On tap at Chipotle Festival. Pour is deep hazelnut brown with a small beige head. Aroma and flavor are of roast, earth, coffee, fruit, peat, smoke, and rich caramel. Finish has a touch of booze.

(bottle) Pours a black-brown with thin tan head. Aroma is sweet malt with prune and some peat. The flavor is roasted with mild malt sweetness and warming 8% ABV accentuated. Good call for wet winter weather. New improved labels issued from brewer than RB photo.

Drank out of a bottle, 2/25/14. No head whatsoever, virtually flat. Smells of caramel, toffee, and plum, slightly sweet. Pours a dark ruby, slightly hazy when held up to a light. Medium body, sweet with some lingering bitterness.
