COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Step into the Scottish Highlands with this authentic Strong Scotch Ale. A lovely and deep garnet color is joined by the aroma of plums and toffee in this unique and special ale. Brewed with Maris Otter malted barley from Crisp Maltings, Ltd. in England, the rich and full-bodied feel of this beer brings out flavors of caramel and roasted chestnuts, which is balanced with a clean and crisp alcohol finish, and just the right amount of lingering hop bitterness. A real treat!

12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear dark brown with a thin off-white head that disappeared after the first two sips. Very earthy aroma of heavily peated malt and pumpkin. The flavor was again heavily peated malt, which just overpowered anything else going on with this beer. There is also a strong alcohol flavor that emerges near the finish. I like scotch ales very much, but I could do without this one.

Drank on tap at the brewery. Light peat smokiness that beautifully balances the sweet sturdy malts in the beer. A delightful treat for fall and winter drinking.

Dark brown body with a medium khaki head. The aroma is bubble gum and iced tea with some light peat notes. The taste has a fairly strong abc gum note with some tobacco. The finish is fairly smoky with some wood and dry whiskey. Decent for the style.

Dark dark brown pour wht a creamy tan lace. Aroma of toasted malt and abv dominate the nose. Light peatiness on the flavor with hints of a molasses like sweetness. Carbonation explodes in your mouth. Decent offering but carbonation really over the top takes away from it some.

I was definitely impressed by the darkness of the beer. It’s very foamy and has an interesting caramel smell, with overtones of alcohol. It leaves a good aftertaste and packs a punch alcohol-wise.

(Bottle from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/massachusetts/w target=blank>Julio’s Liquors) Nice but kind of subdued...Pours dark auburn with perhaps some ruby or amber highlights. Only 1/4" or so of khaki head that retains pretty well. Aroma is sweetish but subdued - caramel, candy, toffee, maybe some light alcohol. Mouthfeel is fairly smooth although a touch pebbly. A little sticky. Weepy, light rings of lacing. Flavor is sweet but subdued toffee/candy/caramel. Perhaps a very light bit of smokiness. Maybe there’s peat but maybe I’m imagining it. Alcohol well hidden. Light bitterness overlays and carries through finish.

pours a very dark, nearly opaque brown with a tan head. aroma is sweet, dark fruit, brown sugar. taste is sweet, malty, with strong dates/raisins, some very subtle spice, and a faint nuttiness. mid-ful bodied with a puffy, prickly, and somewhat sticky-sweet mouthfeel. leaves a light sweetish resin on the palate. would be a good cold weather/rainy day brew. not bad, though a little too sweet and the flavors don’t jump out at me enough.

A strong pour gives a deep mahogany liquid with a short-lived tan head. Heavy on the booze, you also get the sweet notes- carmel, dates, raisin, a little smoke and anise. A solid choice on a winter’s day or in a cellar pub.

Pours a deep mahogany with rich ruby highlights under a fleeting, tan head. Big malt aroma along with some band-aid plastic notes. Strong cola flavor. A bit over carbonated for me.

Dark brown and murky w/ thin cream tan head. Sour and meaty in aroma with caramel malt in the background. Smells a little like a Lambic. Uh-oh. Tart and sweet with meaty flavors. This bottle is off.
