COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Step into the Scottish Highlands with this authentic Strong Scotch Ale. A lovely and deep garnet color is joined by the aroma of plums and toffee in this unique and special ale. Brewed with Maris Otter malted barley from Crisp Maltings, Ltd. in England, the rich and full-bodied feel of this beer brings out flavors of caramel and roasted chestnuts, which is balanced with a clean and crisp alcohol finish, and just the right amount of lingering hop bitterness. A real treat!

Deep brown pour, hardly any head. A bit of spice in the aroma. Good flavor, but still average for a Scottish ale.

Part of an Arcadia sampler: I found this to be a really good Scotch Ale. Poured a dark brown color with minimal head and thin lacing. Aroma of malt, cinnamon and alcohol. Flavor is stong malt with caramel and alcohol present, along with a zippy tongue feel. This is one of the better Arcadia brews I have tried so far. This beer is also deceptive in that it feels like you are drinking a higher-alcohol beer than you actually are.

@ Arcadia’s Brewery/Brewpub This beer was black as sin and had a light bubbly head that that left some oily lace. The aroma was of malt and sweetness with a slight hint of alcohol. The flavor was of malt and some sweetness I could not place. The body was lighter than some others of this style, but not a bad start for this company.

I had this on a hand pulled tap, which normally makes me ran ka beer a bit higher than it deserves in it’s traditional form... oh well. This was a decent scottish ale, but tasted a bit too antiseptic for my tastes. I prefered the ESB to this, which I was srinking at the same time.. and hand pulled of course.

Very dark, mahogony brown colour. Fruity aroma, sweet fruity flavour (raisiny/plumy mainly), and a light chocolate finish. Thin bodied oily on the palate. Average for a scotch ale.

blah, inept label: some sort of chunky cookie depicted with hors d’oeuvres tooth picks through it. beer is boot leather reddish brown with little lustre. thread bare lace on top. sweet malty nose, mostly caramel, like the crust of a streudel, plus a cautionary scent of alcohol. given that it’s head challenged, it’s interesting to note that it’s alive and frisky with carbonation on the tongue. the malt is sweet, dark but not smokey, it’s carrying a formidable payload of alcohol (i like that), a tiny speedbump of hops and the adult abv keep the medium bodied malt presentation from becoming a unidimensional sugary cola disaster. pretty tasty.

dark color, caramel malt flavor, very smooth, alcohol is very present, a pretty solid beer from arcadia

Very Dark, almost wine like in color. Robert Thomas and Michigan Brown Ale come to mind though. Lurking in this beer is this horrible maple syrupy feel to an unpleasant sweetness that put me off. A friend used one word for this, ’bunk’. Hard to drink

Aroma is a little yeasty, but I expect that from a Scottish Ale. Very smooth, with a little too much alchol flavor though. Almost a carmel flavor, but I’m not sure.

Niiiccce. Beautiful color, just a note of flower in the nose (I have had beers that smelled like a bouquet of lilly-of-the-valley), smooth as silk, and delicious. An outstanding effort from this struggling brewery in Kellogg Town. Enthusiastically recommended, especially for fanciers of the type. Extra credit: Oh, that smoothness!
