COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Step into the Scottish Highlands with this authentic Strong Scotch Ale. A lovely and deep garnet color is joined by the aroma of plums and toffee in this unique and special ale. Brewed with Maris Otter malted barley from Crisp Maltings, Ltd. in England, the rich and full-bodied feel of this beer brings out flavors of caramel and roasted chestnuts, which is balanced with a clean and crisp alcohol finish, and just the right amount of lingering hop bitterness. A real treat!

Bottle from Beer Geek. Aroma of dark fruit and dark malt. A bit suggestive of an oporto. Deep garnet color with halogen, otherwise opaque black. A tan ring for head. The flavor is knock the socks off. Smoke, raisin, plum, malt and hop. This is heavy drinking material. Very full body with mild carbonation. They didn’t skimp on ingredients!

Bottle Pours a dark coffee color with medium tan head. Solid Scotch ale with medium aroma, and flavor of smokey malt with a very earthy tone and a small alcohol bite in a good long finish. due to flavor and body plus the alcohol level good combo with good cigar.

A deep reddish brown ale with a thin light moka head and granular floaties. Nice vinous caramel aroma, with light juniper notes, and warming alcohol. In mouth, a sweet caramel malt with light molasses, peaty notes, a bit of licorice. Rich and smooth, a good example of the style. Tasted with Probstk, Jan 11 2009.

Sparkling clear, cherry wood-colored ale with a medium-sized, creamy, beige head. Good retention and great lacework. The aroma is very malty with notes of butterscotch, caramel, toffee and alcohol. Very light notes of chocolate and cola in the nose as well. Well-hopped for a Scottish ale. Great balance. Some caramel and whiskey blasts in the flavor, followed by some tawny port notes. Medium-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Short, bitter, fairly dry finish. Excellent Scotch ale!

Tap at Barcade. Dark brown beer, thin tan head. Malty aroma , sweet toast, and a bit of brown sugar and dried fruit. A bit of treacle or molasses adding to the malt character. Flavour is quite sweet but isn’t sugary. Toasted malt, dark malts and a bit of chocolate and light smoke that I didn’t get at HDG. Light yeastiness as well which accentuates the sweet bready notes in this beer. Better than I gave it credit for the first time around. Tap at HDG. Dark brown beer, thin off-white head. Light malty aroma, some dark toast, a hint of plums and raisin as well. Flavour is malty and toasty. Not a great depth of maltiness as there should be. Seems a bit industrial to me. A touch of licorice toward the finish. 5 3 5 3 11
