4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: JAN 23, 2006 On-Tap at The Happy Gnome in St. Paul.
I am a fan of few things, but Scotch Ale is one of them. I have few to choose from in my neck of the Tundra, but Arcadia hit town a while back, and it has yet to disappoint.
This is the beer that separates the Scotch Ale from the Scottish Ale. This is definitely thicker, meatier, if you will, than my other fave in the latter category, Robert the Bruce. Highly recommend anyone who wants to know what all the hubbub is about regarding this autumnal style.

Whiskey colored pour, no head. Very carmel scent, sweet/sour dark fruits too. Low carbonation, oily mouthfeel , a bit of heat on finish. Very sweet flavor, butterscotch and carmel, dark fruits and raisins and bitter peat. Not my favorite style but a good scorch ale for sure.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle thanks to a trade with jdb288! Labeled as 8% abv. Pours a translucent reddish brown with thin lacy tan head that leaves good lace. Aroma is boozy smoke and caramel malt, almost a isopropyl alcohol note. Taste is a nice blend of smoke malt and caramel sweetness, just a slight hint of the booze here. Not bad, medium body and carbonation.
