COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Step into the Scottish Highlands with this authentic Strong Scotch Ale. A lovely and deep garnet color is joined by the aroma of plums and toffee in this unique and special ale. Brewed with Maris Otter malted barley from Crisp Maltings, Ltd. in England, the rich and full-bodied feel of this beer brings out flavors of caramel and roasted chestnuts, which is balanced with a clean and crisp alcohol finish, and just the right amount of lingering hop bitterness. A real treat!

Poured as promised a garnet color, not much carbonation and absolutely no head. Crisp taste with the malt and hops. A bit thin for me. After taste was OK. Thanks to my Buddy Travelin’ Dave for bringing this back to me!

Bottled (backlog). Slightly hazy ambery brown colour with a small beigeish brown head. Aroma is leathery, toasted, mildly caramelly, long with some toffee and mild ripe fruits. Flavour is leathery, toffeeish, mildly ripe fruity along with some nutty and chocolaty notes.

Loch Down pours a dark purple to brown with a fairly decent sized bubbly tan head that does not last long. The aroma is earthy, plumb and grape. The flavor is dark fruit with plumb standing out the most. Overall this is a pretty decent beer.

Scotch and carmel taste. Poured from 12 oz bottle at home. Vanilla and whiskey nutty taste. Not a fan at the moment but I could try it again

Tap: Ruddy copper with a moderate red tint, more so brown towards the core with a burnt beige cap. Aroma of dark fruits & mild floral notes. Metallic toffee, raisins, toasted malt, & the lightest hint of smoke. Flavor is a bit nuttier with more of that toasted bread, toffee & caramel malt flavor, although it remains on the dry side, never really getting sweet at all. Hints of dry, baked bread, anise, raisin, & faint cocoa powder towards the finish. Thin bodied for the style.

Absolutely awful. Not the Scottish ale I was hoping for. Tastes like awful cough syrup or even a hint or jäger. Couldn't be more disappointed. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. In NYC. Pours a dark brown with frothy head. Aroma of roasted malts, hazelnut, and caramel. Some dark fruits and toffee biscuit. Complex. A lot going on and it's different from start to finish. Medium heavy body name warming alcohol. Nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

pours almost clear medium dark brown, orange tint, with a nice light beige head showing some retention and lacing. sweetish spicy brown malts, nice fruitiness - red, spicy peppermint, faint smoked red berries, very boozy - warm, peppery caramel, shy sweetness - some brown sugar. low carbonation, medium body - oily, slightly boozy and grassy-spicy-slightly piney short to medium long finish. average scotch ale.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours reddish brown with a tan head. Taste malt, plum, sweet. I thought this was good. I could drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
