Bottle. Dark chocolate, smoked malt and alcohol aroma. Black with moderate tan head. Sweet dark chocolate, light smoked barley malt and alcohol flavor. Not bad - pretty boozy.

Notes from 3-12-2010 beer rating: The aroma was rich, strong smell of alcohol and hint of smoke. Dark color, with clean appearance. Poured well with good head. Clean, crisp taste with nothing lingering. Very good drinking beer.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 AWISLguy (668) - Wisconsin, USA - FEB 9, 2013
Bottle from Uncle JiM, abandoned as he did not enjoy. Pours a reddish brown with nice garnet highlights and a tannish head. No real lacing apparent. Aroma has lots of roastiness, some smoke, some peat with some fruit hints. Taste is of smoky meat juice, with roast, some caramel and peat. Mouthfeel is medium and creamy with smoke. Finishes a bit salty with sweetness underneath. Baltic-y more than imperial, imo.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Sikash (175) - North Carolina, USA - JAN 24, 2013
Pours a nice dark color with an off-tan head that doesn’t last very long. Aroma is nice and toasted with some smokey notes with hints of molasses there might be some underlying molasses. Flavor is bittersweet that lasts a decent while and finishes more sweet. There are some smokey flavors with notes of chocolate. Mouthfeel is full while carbonation average overall. This is a great beer I would definitely have again.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 NikkTwist (897) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 15, 2013
Draft at Khyber Pass. Very dark ruby pour. Fizzy foamy head. Unexpected full body - especially for a Porter. Burnt wood. Charcoal. Some smoke. Very burnt sugar. Black pepper. Creamy and dark. Strong malts. Super smooth. Not overly complex but much better than expected.
4.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 EtTuCthulhu (398) - Columbia, Missouri, USA - JAN 10, 2013
The beer pours a very dark brown with a hint of red, and there is also a slight off-white head; furthermore, the aroma is subtle, but there are definite hints of basement aromas, nuts, dough, and chocolate. This beer is slightly sweet and slightly umami, and the palate is nice and thick with a flat carbonation and a slight astringent aftertaste.
