Aroma – Huge Dark malt and smoke aroma loved the chocolate and coffee lingering also.
Appearance – Dark Black in color, light had and clear if you can see through black. LOL
Flavor – A huge beer with tons of flavor. The smoke was light and the coffee and chocolate was very good.
Palate – Nice Porter Mouthfeel, Very good texture with a good dry finish.
Overall – This was a huge beer that had flavor for the next 3 beers. Not your usual sipping porter this was like a stout with flavor.
Beer_2000 (1122), Kristiansand, Norway Jun 26, 2008 355ml bottle. Dark brown body with a nice beige head. Aroma is bitter malty with a pleasant hint of acidity (cellarnote). Flavor is a very pleasant mix of bitter chocolate malt and wild yeast. Full body and long finish. eaglefan538 (2021), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Jun 23, 2008 From bottle. Pour was dark brown, stout-like, good head (somewhat hard to pour within the style). The aroma was strong chocolate, light roast (not evidently beechwood, though?). Flavor followed the aroma in that chocolate and cocoa were the feature, some light roast, but full molasses and licorice were also present underneath it all. Mouthfeel was silky smooth, a tad grainy, but overall pretty nice. Porters have been rather un-enticing this summer season, but I finally got around to this one and enjoyed it relatively speaking. zootfinster (151), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 23, 2008 Pours a deep brown color. Tan Head. Very malty and very chocolaty. A bit too bitter for me to say it’s one of my favorites yet a very respectable beer
