Bottle. Dark pour wtih a tan head. Roasty and toasty aroma with some nice chocolate and molasses notes. Flavor is full of nice roasted malt and chocolate. A nice bitter finish makes this a well balanced beer. Good.

Bottle acquired in trade with TAR (thanks!). Poured a dark, dark brown color with an averaged sized light brown head. Aromas and tastes of chocolate, roasted malts, coffee and caramel. Nice bitter coffee finish. Solid body. A very good porter.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very dark ale. Hazy, crimson hue appears when held up to bright light.
The nose is of rich chocolate, smoke and macadamia nuts. Small notes of perfumey and citrusy hops.
The perfectly-balanced flavor is all about chocolate and astringency. Small bursts of coffee, caramel and vanilla.
Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation.
Short, crisp, clean finish with a touch of freshly cut grass as the finale. Damn good porter. Another winner from Arcadia!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thank you Linus_stick/Alan for this one! It’s black/brown with a light brown, creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel and dark fruits. The flavour is nice and chewy with notes of roasted malt, dark fruits, slightly bitter coffee, light chocolate and the finish is dry and bitter. It’s like it starts out very full and chewy, but at the end of each sip, it becomes thinner. That is a little minus for my overall impression of this otherwise very nice porter.

Cask. Warmer and flat. A spectacular porter. Nice fruity yeast tones, rich cocoa abundance, just a world class porter.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sampled at From The Vine beer tasting Jan 9th, 2004: Pours a dark brown color with a medium beige head that lingers. Not too much lacing going on. Nice amount of nuts and coffee in the aroma. A little more rich than a lot of Porters, with a good amount of coffee, malt, chocolate and hops in the flavor. The finish is nutty with a bit of molasses. I liked this one.

Bottle. Dark chocolate, smoked malt and alcohol aroma. Black with moderate tan head. Sweet dark chocolate, light smoked barley malt and alcohol flavor. Not bad - pretty boozy.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle. ABV listed as 7%. Nearly pitch-black color, minimal light tan head. Little dots of lace. Good, thick aroma... This could pass for a stout, easily. Nice, crisp carbonation. Good aftertaste, nice bitter dark chocolate aroma. Very drinkable! Some warmth, but great roastiness.

UPDATED: JUL 11, 2007 Bottle shared by Blankboy. Black body, with a smallish creamy khaki head (3+). Pleasant aroma with notes of cocoa and chocolate, sweet coffee notes, mild aroma but it is quite nice. Flavour is similarly restrained but still shines with lightly bitter roast, accents of dilute cocoa/chocolate. Avg-Medium palate is pleasantly smooth (3+). This is dangerously drinkable without being bombastic. Thanks for sharing!
