Our Smoked Porter is a robust London style porter with a deep chocolate/ruby color and the subtle accent of hardwood smoked malt. This distinctive beer is brewed using no less than seven different varieties of premium European malted barley, resulting in a complex and full bodied beer characterized by hints of chocolate, coffee, caramel and beechwood smoke. The big malty finish to this beer is balanced by a solid hop bitterness and the refined English aroma and flavor of premium Goldings finishing hops.

UPDATED: JUL 11, 2007 Bottle shared by Blankboy. Black body, with a smallish creamy khaki head (3+). Pleasant aroma with notes of cocoa and chocolate, sweet coffee notes, mild aroma but it is quite nice. Flavour is similarly restrained but still shines with lightly bitter roast, accents of dilute cocoa/chocolate. Avg-Medium palate is pleasantly smooth (3+). This is dangerously drinkable without being bombastic. Thanks for sharing!

Bottle. Dark chocolate, smoked malt and alcohol aroma. Black with moderate tan head. Sweet dark chocolate, light smoked barley malt and alcohol flavor. Not bad - pretty boozy.

Pours nearly opaque with a large frothy tan head. Has a great, wonderfully smooth chocolate and caramel malty aroma. Body starts with a rich, milk chocolatey sweetness showing a touch of sourness before turning to a dry, roasty finish. This could stand to be a bit more complex and balanced, but it’s still a very nice porter. Thanks hopsrus!

Bottled. Poured deep, murky brown with a short creamy cap of deeper beige head. The aroma picked up deeply-roasted, almost burnt dark chocolate and coffee grounds, paired with a mild and complimentary campfire smoke character.. dusty, charred barley came through as well. The flavor began with lightly sour oak and dark fruity notes, with burnt dark chocolate and coffee not far behind.. nicely roasty with coffee and some dry herbal bitterness.. a bit tacky at the very back, but that didn’t detract much. Medium-bodied and well-balanced on the palate.. I very much enjoyed the smoked malt presence. Very good porter!

Cask. Warmer and flat. A spectacular porter. Nice fruity yeast tones, rich cocoa abundance, just a world class porter.

Appearance :Black ale with good tanned fine top that left decent lace on my tasting glass.
Nose : Aromatic , traditional porter nose , gentle hint of sourness ,sweet brown cake , slightly lactic , cream coasted roast. Continental hop shows late.
Flavour/Palate : Soft and full bodied . Potent bitter leaf softened with creamy middle. Alcohol found at edges. Finishes with woody oak like bitterness.

12oz bottle from Artusory. This dark brown ale poured with a rich creamy tan head, with a chocolate malt aroma. The chocolate does, indeed, dominate the flavor, but it complements the nice smoky porter base. There is a chalky, slightly bitter finish that lingers pleasantly on the palate.

12 oz. bottle from The Royale. Pours a deep, dark brown with a very small khaki head. Looks the part. The aroma smells the part, too- roasted malts, chocolate, wood, earth, and toast. The flavor is just like that, with nice earthy, malty, chocolate, and coffee notes. Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation and a toasty mouthfeel. Very faithful take on a traditional English porter, albeit with just a bit more alcohol. I liked this one.

Bottle pours syrupy, nearly black with some dark cherry hues on the edges.   Head is minimal, but lacing is very sticky.   Lovely aroma, toffee, coffee, and some very sweet chocolate.   Smells very yummy!   Toffee/Caramel up front, mild alcohol in the middle, with some bittersweet chocolate and assertive coffee bitterness at the finish.   Lingering maltiness coast the mouth.   Full bodied, a bit of a slick mouthfeel, very enjoyable this one is.   Thanks goes out to raindog for the trade!
