12 oz bottle - pours a dark, dark brown, with very subtle reddish highlights to the whole thing, as if it was in fact a dark, dark red. The big tan head lasts for the entire glass and leaves minimal lace. Lots of yeasts that settle fairly quickly. Big aroma of mainly sweet, dry chocolate, and some coffee and a hint of woodsmoke. The characters in the aroma are present in the flavour, but a bit more subdued. The chocolate drops out and the espresso and slight smokiness take hold. A sweet, almost treacly note is present as well. Alcohol present but not overpowering. Medium bitter finish, with the roasted malts and the hops mingling nicely. Overall, the body is a little thin and slightly watery. If there was a thicker malt base and some more hopping, this could be fantastic, but as it stands, it is merely "pretty good".

Oct 12, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours dark brown color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma is dark chocolate, light roasted malts, light darker fruits, and a hint of smoke. The flavor is much of the same: dark chocolate, roasted malt, a hint of smoke, mildly sweet caramel. Medium bodied with good mouthfeel. This is a very solid porter.

Oct 11, 2008 Bottle. Pours very dark brown with tan head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, brown sugar and roasted malt. Flavor is dominated by strong coffee. Also tasted roasted malt, chocolate and brown sugar. If you like your coffee black you will enjoy this. Resembles a stout more than a porter.

Sep 23, 2008 Pours a nice dark caramelly brown, topped with a whispy tan head.
Strong malt aroma, lots of coffee, and some green olives.
Taste is mostly coffee and dark chocolate, and the alcohol is definitely apparent.
Silky and oily mouthfeel, with a nice medium body.
It has a bitter chocolate finish that unfortunately does not linger...
