3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Chocolate and roasted malts dominate the aroma. A beautiful brown head held steady for a few minutes atop the deep brown ale. Its taste is a hint of sweetness followed by medium bitterness, but not too bitter to upset the balance. Well bodied for an English Porter, the texture is slick, carbonation is average, and finish is long. London Porter is well done, and worth a try if you can find it.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled 11/06/13. Poured 2/16/14. $2.29 single.
Appearance: Pours a clear ruby/black/brown color. Not too thick looking. Thin couple bubbles worth of head. No lacing. Quite true to the style in terms of color. (4/5)
Smell: A LOT of roast/smoke/ash. Almost a wood aromatic as well from all of that. Coffee and chocolate are there but not heavily. Smells good, but almost a bit overbearing with the smoke/ash. (3.75/5)
Taste/feel: About a medium mouthfeel with a mellow, light carbonation. Very pleasant, accurate feel here. The taste is a fairly heavy amount of smoke/ash with a wheelbarrow of roasty qualities. Bittersweet chocolate at the end. Not much depth of flavor, but what is there is flavorful. I could see the smokiness of this brew turning off many, but itís balanced nicely with some sweetness. Very easy drinking at 7%. A really quite nice beer from Arcadia. (4/5, 4.25/5)
One of the better beers Iíve had from Arcadia. Not my favorite porter in terms of flavor, but this one is a good example of a porter over a stout, I think. Iíd definitely have it again, as it can be difficult to find a tasty porter on the shelf.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A murky brown tea color with little to no head. Smells of anise, coffee, brown sugar, vanilla. Tastes of anise dominate ,coffee, light hop bitter, brown sugar sweetness, cigarette ash like finish, tobacco, tea. Leaves some bitter on the tongue, medium mouthfeel light carbonation. Pretty good porter all together.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Ar: Coffee, subtle smoke - sticky caramel.
Ap: Deep brown, almost black, opaque - medium lightish tan head with good retention, leaves a creamy, compact cap of foam.
T: Char and sweet smoke up front - toffee, vanilla, a touch of blueberry - burnt caramel, coffee, and herbal and earthy hops - bitterness is medium-high - finish is more char.
P: Smooth, creamy body with medium carbonation - finish is medium-dry.
O: Wonderful English-style porter - the smoke really adds a nice accent without being overdone - the firm, robust dark malt flavors are all present, plus some nice caramel and coffee notes.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2014 bottle to a tulip glass. Pours a dark ruby brown color. Aroma is caramel malt with some chocolate and a "green" smell presumably from the hops. Taste is roasty, bordering on slightly smokey, with dark and caramel malt. Some coffee. An earthy hops bitterness at the end that combines with the roast and builds on the tongue as you drink it. Full, round mouthfeel. Finishes semi-dry.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz. bottle in a pint glass. Appearance is a ruby-tinted dark brown color with a thin mocha head. Aroma is chocolate, some roasted malts, and a bit of a sweet smoky scent. Itís a nice complex aroma. The taste is a bit richer and smokier than the aroma, but itís similar to the aroma. There is a little bit of a mesquite flavor to the smokiness. A bit different from other porters Iíve tried, but not bad.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Black pour with red hue, small amount of beige head. Smokey/peaty/leathery scent. Flavor follows the nose but itís not too heavy, campfire-like. Low carbonation with a clean finish. Nice smoked porter.
