Aroma is dark malt, a bit of honey, roasted characteristics, and some light twangy hops on the back end. Appearance is semi-clear brownish/black with a medium tan head that lingers. Taste is roasted malt, caramel, a bit of coffee, nutty, and some grassy hop notes. Palate has a nice burst of carbonation in the mouthfeel, sweet, and the aftertaste has a lingering nutty malt texture. Overall, Flavorful, refreshing, if not a little bit sweet, but overall a nice brew. Cheers! philbertk (445), Seattle, Washington, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 23, 2009 Bottle ( 12oz ). Clear copper with an average fizzy-foamy off-white head. Smells like cocoa powder, roast chestnuts and slightly burnt brown sugar - tastes the same, maybe a tad grassy. Watery body, modest carbonation, a quick finish with a dry cocoa/woody linger. Simple, not too syrupy, thank goodness. BigBeer45 (725), Michigan, USA

Aroma: The nose on this one is sweet malts, some nuts, dark fruits, and chocolate
Appearance: A clear dark copper-red color, actually, the descriptions right, mahogany describes it better, minimal head, some lace
Flavor: The flavor is like the nose with more emphasis on the toasted malts and a little more bitterness
Palate: This is a medium bodied brew with a decent mouthfeel, and quite a bit of carbonation
Overall Impression:
I actually thought this one was pretty solid, and it appears to be just a bit underrated here in my opinion. I’d buy this one again, it drinks pretty nicely.
