Brown pour with a tan head. Thick drippy lace. Cookie aroma. Fruits, chocolate, nuts with a creamy finish.

12 oz. bottle from Wine Warehouse. Ruby tinted brown pour, slightly hazy, withe a three finger head. Good retention and nice webs of lacing. Milky aroma with roasted malts and dark fruits. Taste is strong raisin with roasted malts, nuts, brown sugar and a very subtle hop finish. Smooth and medium bodied.

This is a delightfully sweet and nutty brown ale in the English tradition, and one of my absolute favorites from Arcadia. The body is a deep, lucid brown, sticky and attractive, with a cherry red reflection. The head sits regally on top, very thick, rich and foamy, making for an overall very nice looking ale. It is ridiculously well balanced, from the velvety taste through to the appetezing aroma; full of chestnuts, vanilla, almond and cherry pits. A somewhat marshmallowy, creme soda smell adds to the big bright body and the first sip blankets the tongue with a creamy, sticky, yet brilliantly crisp mouthfeel. The taste is pre-dominantly nutty, while very sweet and invigorating, yet it finishes with the lightest hint of drying bitterness. Montmorency cherries, hazelnut, and plenty of chestnut mingle with a chocolatey malt balance and leave you with a mouth-watering velvety finish. This is an ideal beer for outdoor drinking on a breezy, cool night, and one that I turn to time and again. (When I can actually find it...)

Bottle from Vintage Cellar. Hazy dark brown color with a humongous beige head. Has that typical roasted malt, nutty brown ale aroma. Medium body with incredibly frothy carbonation. Flavor is nutty, dark roast malt, and something dusty. There’s some lurking fruit, which might be dark fruit, and I only suspect a sour touch. I expected sour in a brown, but didn’t get it. Which is good this time. Finish is kind of like a cookie, but not sweet. Very pleasant and tasty drink. Seems underrated.

Bottle. Brown bodied with a small tan ring of foam. Nose is nutty, earthy, spicy hops, chocolate, soft caramel and sweet malts. Taste is chocolate covered peanuts, earthy and spicy hops, touch of caramel, and at times like a liquid Baby Ruth candy bar. Body is medium and chewy with soft, creamy carbonation tingle. Ends with more nutty and chocolaty flavors atop earthy and spicy hops and more sweet malt.
