COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Step into the Scottish Highlands with this authentic Strong Scotch Ale. A lovely and deep garnet color is joined by the aroma of plums and toffee in this unique and special ale. Brewed with Maris Otter malted barley from Crisp Maltings, Ltd. in England, the rich and full-bodied feel of this beer brings out flavors of caramel and roasted chestnuts, which is balanced with a clean and crisp alcohol finish, and just the right amount of lingering hop bitterness. A real treat!

On tap at the Bocktown, nice place. Dark brown with virtually no head. Clean and nice aroma. At first, taste is leathery and then the alky morphs to the forefront. As session continues, lots of alky flavors get in yer face. Becomes difficult at times. Strong stuff and the 7.5% is readily apparent. Too much for this lager lover. Surprizingly, the finish is acceptable when comparing it to the alky impact of the taste.

Amazed I haven’t tried this before. Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Deep, dark color with a thin, tan, creamy head. As dark as many stouts. Delightful complex aroma of malt, hops, and chocolate with some fruitiness tossed in. Endorphins surge in the brain on the first taste – exceptionally balanced sweet malt, brunt malt, hops, and slight fruit flavors. A distinct ethanol flavor in the first few sips, but it quickly recedes. Creamy and aromatic in the mouth - this is what micro brews are all about. Fine quality, excellent craftsmanship, and really superb ale.

Bottle. Poured a brown reddish color with a little white head. Aroma was sweet fruit favors. Some plum, raisin, and sweet malts. Flavor was tart, and sweet. A vanilla aftertaste with fruits in the start. A decent beer.

Dark toffee color, little fabric softener in the aroma, some dried cherry. Some moss, great scotch character when it warmed up.

A deep reddish brown ale with a thin light moka head and granular floaties. Nice vinous caramel aroma, with light juniper notes, and warming alcohol. In mouth, a sweet caramel malt with light molasses, peaty notes, a bit of licorice. Rich and smooth, a good example of the style. Tasted with Probstk, Jan 11 2009.

Sweet malty aroma chocolate notes. Opaque brown, thin light tan head clings to edge of glass. Sweet with dry roasted malt notes, bitter finish lingers in the mouth. Medium bodied.

12-oz. Thanks, BeachBum25! Crystal clear dark brown with rubied highlights. Dense, creamy tan head. Laceless. Big peaty caramel nose. Creamy medium body--peat, smoke, earthy tang, wet leaves. Delicious.

12 fl. oz. bottle shared by Lubiere (merci!), served almost cold in a goblet. JA11/09.

App.: Deep copper, rim of tan, big chunks of yeast. Aroma: Definite funk, peat smoke, a little caramel, a little tangy fruit, kinda tight. Palate: Medium-full body, moderate effervescence. Flav.: Caramel/toffee, some meaty smoke, a touch metallic, a little vinous, fairly fruity; quite sweet with some lingering caramel and peat smoke.

Restrained smoke, a bit like an Abbey Dubbel to me.
