gearbike (373), West Bloomfield, Michigan, USA Aug 25, 2008 Light ruby color with small head from bottle. On the thin side and alcohol is very present. Sweet as in dried prunes balance well with a nut flavor. esjaygee (830), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Aug 17, 2008 Murky brown with a slowly fading brown head. Aroma of plum, yeast, toffee and nuts. Flavor of nuts, toffee, molasses, caramel, plums and mild alcohol. Typical Arcadia lively carb feel with a sweet and fruity finish. jimhilt (1428), Bow, New Hampshire, USA Aug 9, 2008 Pours a four finger light tan head that fades slowly to a ring leaving traces of lace. Deep mahogany color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Malty nose. Flavor is sweetish molasses and some caramel. $1.79 for a 12oz bottle from Yankee Spirits South Attleboro, Ma. malrubius (461), USA Aug 3, 2008 12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Garnet red with lasting beige head. Earthy portlike aroma. Sweet cherry pie flavor with mild grassy earthiness. Mild underlying bitterness and surprisingly dry finish. Medium body and medium-low carbo. Fairly complex and well balanced considering the many overly sweet scotch ales out there, I like mine with a little peatiness though. Ok. AndrewKScott (412), Lemont, Illinois, USA Jul 11, 2008 Had this on New Years eve and crushed a few of them. Look, if you like scotch ales, this beer isn’t really for you. If you’ve never had a scotch ale, it could turn you off from Scotch ales for a while. So, you really should buy this unless a. it’s your only option, or b. you’re a completist/masochjist/beermo/person who enjoys drinking things that don’t taste good. It’s very caramelly sweet, and kind of metallic. I will not ever buy or drink this again.
