COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In honor of our adventurous friends at Sky Dive Inc. in Hastings, Michigan, we crafted a truly adventurous brew in Sky High Rye. A West Coast-style Pale Ale with rye malt, Sky High Rye boasts a massive floral aroma of resinous hops. The hops contribute flavor notes of lemons, peaches, and pine needles, combined with the sweet, malty flavors of toffee and bread. Rye adds a pleasant peppery, spicy note like a fresh slice of pumpernickel bread. Very well-rounded and very drinkable, Sky High Rye will surely inspire adventure in all who taste it.

Hop dominated. Overwhelming dryness and bitterness and not even a hint of the malts advertised in the company blah, blah, blah. Nonetheless, quite good.

UPDATED: DEC 2, 2013 Bottle: shiny, golden color with orange edges. Nice clarity throughout, topped with a big-bubbled, foamy white head. Aroma is kind of... sweaty a first. Strange. Lots of "green", vegetal-like hops; light, wet, floral. Bitter grapefruit peel, dry finish with spicy rye notes, though not as much as expected. Taste has some alcohol warmth, white pepper-like, earthy spice, lots of bready, dry, spicy rye... Much more present in flavor than in aroma. Hops are leafy, ashy pine needles with a heavy finishing bitterness. Some bready malts come into the finish for a rye bread kind of feel. Decent beer, Iím just not the biggest fan of rye. This was enjoyable enough.

Definitely one of the ones I liked better from Arcadia. I am usually a fan of ryes also and this one had a nice crisp toastiness to it.

Bottled 3/10/13. Nose of heavy caramel and spice-laden hops with distinct rye and some resin. And some nice lemon-peach-pineapple-mango fruity hops notes. Pours yellow-golden with a rocky white head. Medium body lightly bitter, perhaps even medium, but with a sharply tart start. Dries out quickly and utterly, but shy of astringency, and has a peppery-coriander overtone. Otherwise itís lemon and very faint pine, and seemingly some Belgian swatches where theyíre hard to see. Good one!

12oz bottle @ Rì Rà (Atlantic City). Pours a hazy light copper color with a thin foamy off white head. Aroma of citrus, spicy rye, white pepper, and herbal hops. Taste has a nice citrus burst up front, followed by some caramel and rye malt, and finishes with some grapefruit and spices.

On cask at the brewery. Pours a clear gold with a big fluffy white head. Spicy fruit aroma. Citrus, orange, lemon, floral, and rye notes. Creamy mouthfeel with some graininess. Low level of carbonation. Good cask ale.

7/04/2011: Arcadia Sky High Rye (Rye Pale Ale)... Aroma: Generous hoppiness in the aroma that presents wonderful grapefruit, resin, pineapple, and papaya. Appearance: Cloudy, dull pale yellow-beige color similar to that of lemon juice topped with a dense, lasting, and frothy off-white head; fine sediment swirling around the mdoerate carbonation. Flavor: Bittersweet and spicy with some malty sweetness, but mostly contains a nice, even citrus peel hop bitterness; there is also some sticky pine resin and plenty of white grapefruit with just enough tropical fruit to sweeten it up a little bit; moderately dry finish. Palate: Medium-light to medium; slightly slick and oily; good level of carbonation. Overall: This is a nicely done Rye Pale Ale; it is generously hopped with ample bitterness, but the rye malt still comes through; very, very drinkable.

12 fl. oz. bottle (6% Alc. by Vol.) from The Andersonís General Store in Toledo, OH. Rating #266 for this beer.

12oz bottle, from Party Town, purchased about a week prior. Date on bottle reads 1/07/13. Pours a mostly hazy orange color. Little white head. Decent lace, medium body. Kind of crisp, lighter carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Moderate to stronger bitter taste, a bit biting for a pale ale. Minimal sweet. Some caramel malt. Light citrus, big spicy rye. OK rye pale ale. Would like more hop character, and less forward (caramel) malt.

Bottle from Merriman Street Cafť. Pours clear golden with a craggy off-white head and a floral fruity aroma. There is a fairly bitter rye malt flavor with a dry finish. This is an interesting brew that successfully combines hop bitterness with rye bitterness.

Hazy, light golden in color with a dense, frothy white head and steady, moderate carbonation. The aroma is perfect for a rye pale in my opinion. Itís slightly musky, with low residual sugars from caramelized malts to sweeten the beer and give it a subtle body. The aroma is addictive. Very nice. Iím pleased. Iím satisfied. I love the earthy qualities of a well-brewed rye pale. Itís delightful in the mouth, with a very similar bouquet in its flavor as in the aroma. Itís smooth, and the combination of piney hops and earthy rye offer a very well-balanced beer. It finishes with a touch of light caramel. Hops are prevalent, but not dominating. This is awesomely balanced. Itís a slightly less harsh version of Sierra Nevadaís Ruthless Rye. Yes, watch out, Sierra Nevada. This is a damn good rye pale ale.
