4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 cazort (456) - Newark, USA - NOV 14, 2010
(Bottle) Hazy, light orangish color, with almost a pinkish tinge. This beer grabbed me with the first sip...intensely fruity hops, with a very strong and clear apricot aroma (It really struck me more as apricot and less as peach). This one so strongly resembles apricot, I’d say it’s even more apricot-like than Magic Hat #9. I do notice the piney and lemony quality to the hops too, but these take a back burner to the fruitiness. I also really notice the rye malt, which emerges after the hops hit you. But the malt aroma is not particularly deep, and it vanishes soon after it emerges, leaving a very clean, but very bitter aftertaste. Alcohol is exceptionally well-masked. Remarkably light given how powerful it is. I was really impressed by this, as rye beers can tend to have a heavy quality about them, and this beer would strike me as light even if I were comparing it to other, similar barley-malt beers. Carbonation is a bit sharp and prickly, and I like this; it meshes well with the strong bitterness and light quality of this brew. I imagine this beer would not be as enjoyable if it were allowed to go flat. I am not familiar with this brewery, but this beer immediately got my attention and I’m eager to try more. It’s rare these days that I try a new beer from a bottle that impresses me as much as this one did.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Bif (619) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - APR 29, 2012
Bottle- Pours a copper color with a fizzy head that fades to nice lacing. Aroma of pine and rye grain with some spice and a hint of nut thrown in. Starts with a nice tart nip followed with a blend of grain and mild spice. Nice bitterness and a clean finish. Moderate body, crisp, smooth and refreshing. Nice balance. Enjoyable beer, easy drinker. One of the better rye offerings I have tried.

12oz bottle - pours murky honey with white head and trace lacing. Nose is caramel and citrus. Flavor adds floral hops and bread. Taste is just about equally sweet and biter - balanced but faint. Does not stand out.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 hotstuff (3249) - Indiana, USA - APR 19, 2012
Bottle. Poured a large smooth, fizzy white head that was mostly lasting with one ring of lacing. The body was transparent, very fizzy carbonation, and a yellow hue as bright as the sun. The Aroma was malty, rye, floral and pine hops, and semi-sweet. The Flavor was mildly bitter, malty, rye, a little spicy, and pine hops. The Mouthfeel was mildly tingly and this is a medium bodied beer. Overall, this beer is hopping tasting but not over-the-top hoppy and quaffable.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Kcwildcat98 (18) - - APR 10, 2012
My first rye style beer. Was cloudy and more pale than other pale ale beers I have had. Could taste some malt that gives it a strong after taste. Would drink again, but not seek out.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jfenglish (355) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 29, 2012
Ok, i have to admit i was a bit skeptical of this given the bit of rye fad going on lately, but was hugely surprised about how good this is. The color was below average, it poured a cloudy dull yellow, but after that everything went nearly perfect. Aroma is intense, with orange peel, hard candy, and piney hops. Taste is multi-layered and complex, with more pine, orange, bitterness with the hint of rye, and peaches (of all things) coming together for a tasty and balanced combination. Could easily put a few more of these away...
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 FishBizkit (123) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 17, 2012
Very tasty brew. This was just under room temp, where I like them, so it ended up with a mountainous, rocky white head. poured golden clear, then the sediment poured in and danced through the glass. Aromas of resin and floral hops. Grains in the background. Taste is sweeter than I expected with a pleasant herbal candy hint. Rye and hop favors lead to a balanced bitter, ending clean and fresh. Palate is strong of alcohol bite and yeast spice. Full tiny bubbles and a well rounded flavor. Definitely one to drink again

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 dumontn (528) - CHICAGO, Illinois, USA - JAN 14, 2012
Pours pale amber with a slight haze, ok retention. Aroma is fairly sweet rye caramel with some citric hop notes. Taste is same; fairly sweet on the palate, dominated by rye. Body is light to medium, low carbonation, sticky consistency from rye, finishes juicy with some bitterness. Overall, this is pretty meh
