Thunder Trail ESB (6.0% ABV): stays true to our English Brewing Heritage. With a strong backbone of Maris Otter and Crystal malts, this Extra Special Bitter is balanced by earthy, spicy, English hops. Our Ringwood yeast strain imparts a dis-tinctly fruity character that is accented by dry-hopping with a modest amount if Palisade hops. We hope you enjoy this quality session ale—wherever the Trail may take you.

12oz bottle, from Party Town. Date on bottle reads 4/22/13. Mostly hazy darker orange-copper color. Thin off-white head. Nice, thicker ropes of lace. Medium body. Smooth, more crisp lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Impressive, tropical citrus apricot hop flavors. Lightly spicy hop. Bigger bitter taste. Tasty, but kind of spicier, more bitter ESB.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear deep amber with a gray head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a lot of grass notes with some light grain and just a hint of pine coming through. Flavor has bitter pine up front that mellows in to a grass and light grain finish.

Draft to taster at Arcadia in Kalamazoo. Looks good for the style; a transparent pale copper with foamy eggshell head. Smells mildly sweet and hoppy with a touch of grain. Tastes like it smells with mild fruity notes from the hops. Average on the palate. Not bad.

Pailhead (5192) - Brownstown, Michigan, USA - JUN 7, 2013
Bottle: The aroma consists of toasty caramel, herbal notes, and fruit/grape. It pours a transparent amber with some sediment and a small off-white head that settles to a thin film outlined by a slightly thicker ring. There is some spotty thing webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with light/moderate fruit/grape, caramel, and a touch of brown sugar. The finish has light toasty notes with a touch of herbal hops. It’s light bodied with moderate-lively carbonation.

pours clear and bright golden orange with a nice creamy off-white head, good retention and lacing. orange and spicy earthiness, lots of fruity esters - berries, caramel and butter - nutty sweetness and toasted and sweet sourbread, brown sugar, english yeast, taste translates fruits to sour and almost rotten fruits, some metal. moderately low carboantion, light body - oily yet the finish seems more watery, assertive grassy-herbal-earthy-grapefruity finish. i enjoy my esbs cleaner and lighter sugar-wise. still.. more than decent esb - say an american interpretation..

12oz bottle from Canal’s Fire Rd. Poured an unimpressive super hazy amber orange body with a smaller to maybe average sized bubbly foamy super light beige head. Aroma is loads of biscuit, nut shells, brown bread dough, floral and some orange citrus. Body is very very lively with a watery mouthfeel and an average duration on the aftertaste. Flavor of tonic water from the loads of carbonation, biscuit, dough, wet nut shells. Body is too lively on this one.
