COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Arcadia Whitsun is a modern interpretation of a mid-19th century English spring and summer festival ale. It is light golden in color with a rich, creamy head, full bodied and has a lightly toasted caramel flavor. The addition of Michigan star thistle honey contributes a uniquely smooth drinkability to this unfiltered wheat ale.

Location: Draft at Waterfront Ale House, 7/24/10

Aroma: The nose has some orange, toffee/caramel, wheat, and a bit of spice
Appearance: It pours a hazy golden-orange with a small off-white head
Flavor: It tastes wheaty, has some spice to it, and has citrusy hops in the finish
Palate: The body is light-medium with a relatively lively carbonation
Overall Impression: This was an OK, but fairly uninspried wheat beer. It isn’t bad, it isn’t great, and it isn’t memorable, it just kind of is... This shouldn’t read as overly harsh, it isn’t meant that way, it is drinkable.

Bottled sample. Dark gold with medium carbonation. Floral and sweet orange aromas dominate with some pale malt backing. A very nice orange marmalade character shines through in the mouth, with some stronger citrus, tropical fruit, and pale malt on the finish. Light bodied. Quite refreshing on a hot day.

Slight aroma of wheat, hints of orange and spice. Pours a cloudy orange, with just a dusting of head. The taste of the beer is a bit mild, a full slick mouthfeel, and just a touch of spice on the finish. Very drinkable beer, but there’s other wheat ales I’m going after first.

This poured a murky darker yellow to orange with a white head. Aroma was yeasty characters and lots of fruits. Flavor was like apple juice squeezed into a fruit beer. Not really what I was looking for but interesting and refreshing.

Reddish pour with a thin white head. Aroma of wheat, subtle fruit, little herbal. Taste is like the aroma, pleasant. Nice mouthfeel. Worth a second look.

One of the better summer wheats I’ve had. Orange amber pour. Fruity wheat nose and taste. Rated 8/31/08
