12/05/2013: Arcadia 16th Anniversary... Good smoke flavor, but lacking in depth and intensity - there is barely even any maltiness to the beer; thin and watery; like a light lager with smoke? I was hoping for A LOT more from Arcadia for this beer! Draught (sample) at Party Town in Bellevue, KY. Rating #10 for this beer.

Sampled on draft at the HopCat in Grand Rapids. Pours a nice brownisn black with a tan head. Aroma of fruity and sweet belgian esters, and the accompaning banana and clove notes. Mild chocolate notes give this a chocolate banana quality, but, in context, is like a chocolate banana at a barbecue. Smoke notes are present but muted. Flavor is nice, chocolate banana reign supreme but smoked malts are available in the background. Coating mouthfeel, some chalky texture. Fishes estery amidst bitter chocolate.

on tap at the vintage. mute aroma. big thick head. mild bacon smoke smell, not overwhelming, First taste I know this is one of the better smoked beers I tasted. Milder and easy to take. I normally don’t like the bite of smoked but this is acceptable. Not in yer face.

Sample at the brewpub on 3/29/13. Pours a clear amber color with a medium beige head. Malty nose with light smoke. Malty and smoky flavor (but more like a smoked cheese than a smoked meat) with a malty finish.

32oz growler from DEP’s, shared with family. Mostly clear amber color. Nice thin off-white head. Nice mountains of lace. Lighter to medium body. Good smooth lighter carbonation. Lightly dry texture. Nice light sweet bready wheat flavor, works well with the light savory of the smoke. Not over smokey, nice balance. Some light bit of citrusy hop noticeable. Very tasty, easy to drink, sort of refreshing stuff, but with a nice satisfyingly smokey twist

Draft in pint glass. Wheat taste is pleasant on the palate, but no smoke. Finish is earthy, a hint of smokiness.

On draft from Heinen's in Bainbridge. Pours hazy, pumpkin orange, sandy bubbly head that settles away to a thin ring. Smoked malt, mild peat, subtle pear, apple and wheat on the nose. Delicate palate, soft smoke, cereal grains with a mild bitter bite on the finish. Balanced smoked wheat ale ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at Pizza House, East Lansing. Translucent straw to amber body, thin ring of cream carbonation. Smoky nose and body, also floral and toasty. Rather delicate, not overwhelmingly smoky. Probably as quaffable as a smoked beer gets.

Pours golden/amber with a thin white head. Aroma is perfumey and grainy...not very smokey. Flavor is malty/wheaty with a bit of smoke. Mouthfeel is light/medium. And the finish is earthy/smoky.
