Poured a clear amber with a quickly fading off white head. Aroma of nutty, sweet malt. Watery body, flavour of subdued mail chocolate and malt with a small bitter aftertaste.

Dark ruby colour, head disappears very quickly. Light aroma slight maltiness. Tastes malty chocolate malt, dark crystal, small amount of roasted barley, little mouthfeel. Long cloying sweetness that remains coated to the mouth.

Bottle from Jenners, Edinburgh. This is a ruby red-brown beer with sweet malty and red fruity notes, chocolate hints and a slight nutty finish.

Bottle shared at home - cheers Steven! Pours clear brown with good off-white head. Aromas of roasted malts, caramel, toffee - really good nose. Taste follows through, but not entirely. Good carbonation. A well made dark ale, closer to an old fashioned porter than a bitter though...

500ml bottle from Cornelius. Medium reddish brown colour, good head. Oaty chestnut malt aroma. Dry glue malt flavour. Bitter aftertaste. An average bitter.

50cl bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours a dark honey colour with a slim but nice head. The nose has an earthiness with a biscuity-toffee note. The taste has more of the toffee biscuits and again there’s a background earthiness. The palate has a medium body and texture and then unfortunately it falls off a cliff somewhat. Overall, the nose was great but overall, it’s just so so - the style is somewhere between a bitter and a Scotch ale.

[ Trade by cgarvieuk ]. Clear matt medium amber colour with a small to average, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, caramel, caramelized malt. Flavour is moderate to light heavy sweet and light moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20120812]
