Hand pulled at the Head of Steam, Euston, in the company of chris_o. Slick, hoppy beer. Quite dry with some grapefruit and lemon. A nice welcome home to rainy England.

Cask Handpump at the Crescent, Salford 02/04/2004 A golden and hoppy bitter with some dryness in the finish. Creamy on the palate.

Hmm...curious. The beer that Dan and I tasted doesn’t sound much like the one Gazza tried earlier in the year. I had this down as a vibrant gold coloured beer, pale and dryish, in the style of a golden ale but without much in the way of floral hop notes. Didn’t notice any honey. perhaps Archers, having brewed what seems like a different beer each day of the year have run out of names and are now recycling them? Anyway, the beer that Dan and I tried was pretty run of the mill - perfectly drinkable, but not really very exciting. Cask (handpump), Head of Steam, Euston.

An amber ale with a pronounced honey nose. Sweetish honeyed flavour, some drying hoppiness but the finish is pure liquified hives and a rich biscuitiness. It lacks balance, being too sweet and not having enough hop bitterness, but is enjoyable enough. Not sure I could drink a full pint though, that sweetness is a bit overbearing. (sampled on cask in the Orwell Bar, Wigan, UK)
