Yet another Archers occasional/special beer. Sampled in the Market Porter, Southwark, which seemed to be doing a dozen or more Archers beers over a period of a week or so. This was the best of those that I tasted. If it actually has whisky in it, I could not detect it, but what I did find was a full bodied mid-brown beer with good balance and a good clean finish. 5.2% alcohol but drinks a lot easier than that. Very nice. Handpump, October 2003.

Cask, Hinckley Fest 08. Dark brown like cola with a small head. Aromas are molasses and weetabix with light whisky grain. Some burnt notes. Flavours are toffee malts with citrus. Earthy hops with herbal notes. Vinous and warming with not so much whisky as in the aroma.

Cask at The Frothblowers Arms, Salisbury. Nice beer. Whiskey sort of got by me. Very drinkable bitter. (Note from 10/8/2004)

Cask@1st Hinckley Beer Festival, 2008. Very dark brown beer with a slightly reddish edge. The aroma is very lightly roasted, and the flavour is lightly roasted and dry with a large element of whisky flavour. Overall a reasonable combination beer.

Cask @ Market Porter, A nice Clean bitter not exceptional but not bad. The RCH Steam Fair was a better session beer.

Cask at Bon Accord, Glasgow. Little bit thin for the ABV. Tastes a bit like a Scottish 80/-.
