UPDATED: OCT 16, 2006 Cask Handpump at the Vernon Arms, Liverpool 08/04/2004 Golden and hoppy beer which is slightly creamy on the palate. Bitter finish that lasts.

Cask-conditioned @ Black Boy, Winchester. Grassy citric hops. Some malt character. Refreshing with growing bitterness.

Cask, Royal Oak, Sevenoaks. Nice pub with interesting carved figures of historical characters around the bar. Beer is a light amber. Lovely lemon and tangerine flavour. White wine with a touch of vinegar aroma. Soft fruity finish lingering briefly before ending on a softly astringent note. Decently refreshing with enough complexity to keep interest but not to overwhelm.

Perhaps my mood was still in the winter season, but this light-colored ’spring ale’ was far too plain. I couldn’t pick up an appreciable aroma, and while not offensive, the beer failed to make any impression.
