Cask gravity at Red Lion, Snargate. Aroma of choc/coffee, dark syrup flavour in mouth, some molasses and then dry hoppy finish. Good for a cold May Bank Holiday Monday evening in a CAMRA National Inventory listed pub.

A Mes rate: Gravicask @ Reading Beer Festival. Red-ish dark brown. Sweet alcoholic coffee with vanilla and wheat in the aroma. Flavour is exactly the same with a great hoppy hit at the finish that eventually leaves a lovely lasting creamy aftertaste. Not much like a mild but very good.

Cask, Harboro’ Hotel, Melton Mowbray. Very dark brown/red with a dense cream head. Aromas are malty in a weetabix sense with chocolate and a light roast character. Flavours are very malty for a mild (although this is a stronger version). Roast malts, chocolate and weetabix with plain chocolate bitterness. Lots of flavour. A good mild.
