Cask handpump at The Wellington, Birmingham. Amber in colour, with a short head. Bitter hops in the aroma and a slight fizz. Simple and refreshing.

Cask gravity at Red Lion, Snargate. Copper colour with thin white head. Rose petal hop aroma. Satisfying in mouth. Juicy. Really great flavours. Tangy citrus tangerine and grapefruit. Ooh, this is nice. Underlying malt too. Really good and surprisingly different. The length of finish of tangerine juicy fruit is remarkable.

Cask Conditioned, at The Pakenham Arms, Bloomsbury, London.
I’d stopped at this pub twice and never committed to a beer. Then when Imdownthepub gave it a mention I thought I better reconsider my very rushed opinion of he place. Well 6 days later and the same archers is still on. I’ll say no more shall I. Amber body. Bitter, asparagus aroma. Malty base with tired hop remnants. Only 4 of the 8 hand pumps were on.

Cask Conditioned at The Pakenham Arms, Bloomsbury, London. Pale straw with thin head. The beer is a thin malty grainy type with a corn note. Little hop character nor too many outstanding features. Average fare. The pub is great by the way.
