bierkoning (5077), La Tropica, Netherlands Sep 21, 2008 Corked bottle. Amber color. Pepper, ginger and marmalade in the strong aroma. Sugary sweet flavor with orange marmalade and ginger. Sticky mouthfeel, liquor-like, though not especially alcoholic. Too sweet to be really good. DruncanVeasey (1814), No. 46, Leicestershire, Belgium Aug 6, 2008 750ml bottle, The Criterion, Leicester. Sweet citric sickbowl nose again, but this time I wanna jump right in. Acidity, spice, liquorice. Johnny Cash ’Hurt’ on the jukebox. Raisiny dried fruit. Medicine. The lollies my mum used to buy me from the chemist. Citric and dried fruity. Diffficult to pin down. Didn’t get the lime at all if I’m honest, which I suppose is a good thing. Octo reckoned Peach Soothers and Aspartame, I said Honey and Lemon Lockets. Throatsweet bittersweetness. I want to be ill. BoBoChamp (804), Gent, Belgium Jul 26, 2008 75cl, from Geers Oostakker, easy to drink, yet complex, cloudy, small head, good brew Jerre (1422), Waregem, Belgium Apr 16, 2008 From bottle, 75 cl. Not bad. rauchbier (2877), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England Dec 27, 2007 Tap, at ZBF 2006. Amber, thin white head and gentle condition. Low toffee sweet aromas, gentle fruitiness in the mouth with a gentle spritzy tonic water mouth feel, low fruity maltiness in the finish with more suggestions of tonic water (quinine?)
