Wow, first rate - that’s a first.. So, the beer. This is apparently part of archipelago’s new ’more traditional’ line-up of craft beers. Well, it certainly is more traditional. Good or bad? More on that in a sec. I tried this on tap at Smokey’s in Singapore (awesome ribs) and it was in prime condition. The lager pour golden, clear with a nice lasting head on it. The aroma is discreet, maybe some hops, a hint of diacetyl and then there’s that typical archipelago house nose on it, in a word - fruity. It really makes me wonder what yeast strains they’re using (or maybe it’s all those spiced beers they’ve made in the past making me expect spices and fruit in archipelago beers). This lager is quite clean on the palate, not cloying and has some decent body to it. I quite enjoyed it, however, as good as this beer was - it’s not a bohemian lager (although to the discerning Singaporean crowd, I don’t think that’s a dealbreaker....) I’m excited to see what old Fal has up his sleeve for this new line up of beers (I was a huge fan of the Gula Melaga ale)...

A blonde lager with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, mineral malt, grainy and nice, In mouth, a weird solventy malt with mineral notes, medium bodied. On tap at the brewpub, July 4, 2011.

@ Queen & Mangosteen. Deep gold with a nice sparkle. Decent head. Herbal hop aroma with fairly strong malt background. Herbal, sticky character with some light fruitiness. A nice pils.

Draft @ the Queen & Mangosteen bar in S’pore. Dark copper-gold with tight head. Lots of rising bubbles. Aroma of fruity malts. Lively effervescence. Slight prickliness. Nice lingering bitterness, balanced by sturdy malts. Too much sweetness perhaps but nice nonetheless.
