COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A very special Ale. The perfect beer to share with friends and family over a good meal or after a long day. The Brewmaster blended special Ale malts, hops, ginger and gula melaka to create a beer that is creamy, smooth, and with hints of roasted caramel. Traditionally brewed and uniquely Archipelago.

dark brown pour with no real head at all. nothing but molasses and syrup on the nose. nothing but molasses and syrup on the palate besides the ridiculous amount of ginger in this thing.

Sampler at Archipelago, ABV 5.4%. Light hazy amber colour, light off white head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, some Indian spices. Flavour is spicy, hoppy, light roasted with some caramel notes, grapefruit bitter finish, just a hint of soap. Medium bodied, good and tasty beer with a spicy twist.

Draught at Archipelago Brewpub, Singapore. Copper with a creamy off white head and nicely laced. Toasted malt, licorice, caramel, citrus, pine aroma and flavour. Similar to their other beers is very well balanced. Good carbonation and bitterness. Smooth and bitter finish. A unique beer that tastes great.

On tap at brewpub. My favourite of their lineup. Pours deep red with minimal head. Sweet malts, big ginger spicyness, some nuts. Good, but not something I would want to drink much of.

On tap. Rich lathery head. Deep brown+red colour. A beautiful beer. There is a strong note of hops in the aroma. Ginger - yup. Gula melaka (palm sugar) - better believe it! This beer works really really well. In my opinion, this is because the underlying beer would stand on its own, with the spices added in, it really flies! The solid hop/malt foundation is quite solid and the spices augment, rather than overwhelm the beer itself. Top knotch!

UPDATED: FEB 27, 2009 A confusing ale. Beerwise, the yin and yang are all out of balance. The various components do not seem to communicate with each other productively. Uphill task for a palate - like some kind of cultural revolution in your mouth. Queer aroma. Does this brew complement Asian cooking or, is it an Asian dish? If you take out the alcohol and throw in some crushed ice, it can pass off as a street desert in Southeast Asia.

Bottled. A hazy deep red beer with an orangey head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel and light notes of spices. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel as well as lighter notes of nuts and ginger, leading to a dry spicy finish. Thanks fiulijn for sharing.

(330ml bottle, courtesy of Mar) Pours a clear brown body with a spare beige head. Aroma of palm sugar, ginger, caramel, and biscuit. Flavor of ginger, caramel, sugar, tapioca pudding, and nuts with a dry finish.

Definitely a mislabeled style. Bottle shared by Mark at a recent tasting. Thanks!
Pours a dark clear brown color with no head. Smell is warm, toasty cinnamon and ginger along with a chocolatey flavor from the malt. Slightly hoppy, and clean with the toasty brown ale flavors mingling with the light ginger-y spiciness

Bottle courtesy of mar. Pours dark brown with smallish head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of molassas, syrup, raw meat and ginger. Flavor is burnt malts, ginger and molassas. Thinnish mouthfeel. More interesting than good.
