3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cloudy honey gold colour; Thin head and white foam which fades in 1 minute; Small lacing and minimal carbonation; Strong aroma of malt, bread, orange, citrus and grass, with notes of light honey when it gets warmer; Moderately sweet taste of malt, bread and glass; Medium body, slick palate; Taste profile is initially mild and sweet taste - not overtly sugary, pretty nice - followed by quick malty taste. Hop bitterness is pretty low, a bit odd for this style, but penetrating with light saltiness as a finish. Slightly dry after taste, very easy to mouth.
Comments: For lack of a better word, this brew is sneaky. Its sweet malty taste is kind of unusual for German beer, but it’s not offensive and I like it. Palate and finishing is this beer’s surprise - just when I think the hoppiness was forgettable, it manages to give me the subtle bitter and salty feeling and work with my taste bud so well. Not a world beater, but a genuinely pleasant surprise, kind of like a pet cat which begs to be adored.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cloudy yellow pour. Not much on the nose, a little bit of dough. Balance is good but not much to this one.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Moderate malt aromas of light bread and cereal, light herbs and dough for the hops and yeast, with a hint of brown sugar. Head is average size, fizzy, slightly off white with no lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is murky tan. Flavor starts lightly sweet and and moderate acidic, then finishes moderately acidic and faintly bitter. Palate is medium, watery with a lively to fizzy carbonastion. Nothing really jumps out at you in this beer, but this is a nice and mellow, and well balanced Zwicklbier.

Tap at The Reef thanks to Ruben! Pours full cloudy golden. Decent lace. Sweet sugar cube and pineapple nose. Taste is sweet, pithy melon, paper, macro chemicals. Feels old. No hoppiness and no cohesive body. Eh.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Snallygaster Beer Fest in Washington DC. Poured a golden color with a small, solid white head. Aroma was sweet malts, crisp grassy notes, some hops. Flavor was sweet malts, grassy hop notes, some raw grain notes in there. Served pretty cold, so it was refreshing at the very least.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
On draft at Deep Ellum. Dull hazy yellow golden color with a finger of foam... aromas of cereal malts and a touch of light spice. On the palate its smooth and easy to drink with big doughy malt flavors. Wish there was a touch more of fruity spice to add a bit of complexity to the beer but overall a crushable beer.

Probably better than average for a Euro lager. But not really average for a good Bavarian lager.
