Tap at The Reef thanks to Ruben! Pours full cloudy golden. Decent lace. Sweet sugar cube and pineapple nose. Taste is sweet, pithy melon, paper, macro chemicals. Feels old. No hoppiness and no cohesive body. Eh.

Draft at Snallygaster Beer Fest in Washington DC. Poured a golden color with a small, solid white head. Aroma was sweet malts, crisp grassy notes, some hops. Flavor was sweet malts, grassy hop notes, some raw grain notes in there. Served pretty cold, so it was refreshing at the very least.

Tap. Pours lightly hazy pale yellow with a medium, frothy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is Pils malt with spicy hops and a clean lager character. Flavor is malt forward with medium hops and bitterness and a dry finish. Light body and medium carbonation.

On draft at Deep Ellum. Dull hazy yellow golden color with a finger of foam... aromas of cereal malts and a touch of light spice. On the palate its smooth and easy to drink with big doughy malt flavors. Wish there was a touch more of fruity spice to add a bit of complexity to the beer but overall a crushable beer.

Probably better than average for a Euro lager. But not really average for a good Bavarian lager.

Zwickl lager ... Pale yellow pour, decent creamy white head, light lacing ... aroma of sweet malts and grassy hops ... taste is of sweet malts ... smooth and creamy mouthfeel ... light grassy hops, toasted grainy malts and a little earthy ... finish is dry and smooth..... Not bad for just a easy drinking lager

On tap at Christy’s in Cincinnati, OH... Served in a plastic cup (they refused to give me a glass because it was an outdoor patio...). Golden color, nice foamy white head leaving good lace. Nice smooth carbonation, dry finish. Pretty decent aroma, better than I expected. Straw, hay, white bread. Like a zwicklbeer should be, I think? A nice surprise at an otherwise unimpressive bar full of macros. Some banana, spice and hefe-like aromas in a subtle way. Pretty tasty light bitter and light sweet taste. Lighter savory taste. Not much too complain about, besides the price and shitty presentation. Very dry. A little skunk and basement comes out as it warms up a bit. Starts out nice, but soon gets worse

UPDATED: SEP 4, 2014 Draft at surf club. Well I still haven’t made it to Germany, but did get to try this what I can only assume was much fresher here last night. And I loved it. Had 3-4 pints. A totally different beer. Very clean, refreshing, not grainy at all. Light citrus fruits. Bottle from sam’s. Just noticed the best by date of 5/02/12. D’oh! Hazy golden with small fuzzy white head. Nose is bready and grainy, light bitterness. Similar flavor, coulda been good when fresh. I really need to go to Europe and drink these fresh. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
