BDR (1903), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Jun 2, 2007 Many thanks to Arctic Craft brew master John for breaking out this beer for me. John said that the beer was finished, but hadn’t been fully carbonated yet - which suited me just fine for a stout. The beer was a very dark brown with a pronounced bourbon and butterscotch nose. Smooth whiskey and stout taste with a little bit of butterscotch floating about. Nuffield (2541), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Jun 30, 2007 Very dark brown with brown edges. Good bourbon-like quality with rich roasted notes, but the warming and soothing butterscotch. The last notes of the finish were really good. Nice! badgerben (3160), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Jun 25, 2007 RBSG 2007. Muchas gracias to Brewfiend on getting this one. Growler. Black color with no head. No false advertising here… the aroma is pure butterscotch. Thankfully not in the “oh god what kind of bug crawled in here and died” kind of way. Carries over much the same into the taste. The oak is there, but subtle. Very smooth beer. The only gripe I have with this is that the butterscotch made it a little too sweet for me. Needed a bit more roasted malt or bittering hops to keep it under control. But really, way better than I was anticipating. maniac (2022), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jun 28, 2007 RBSG 2007 Grand Tasting. Still dark brown body. Sweet butter aroma. Caramel and chocolate flavor with a buttery ending. CaptainCougar (4664), Rockville, Maryland, USA Nov 18, 2007 Growler at the RBSG grand tasting on 6/23/07: Pours an oily opaque with dark brown edges and a thin ring of light tan head. Aroma of earthy sweet lightly roasted and smoky malts with a hint of butterscotch. Body starts a little thinner with some mild lightly sweet and earthy caramel malt toward a lightly smoky bittersweet finish with a touch of butterscotch complexity. An interesting stout.
