2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 mullet (849) - Melbourne, - MAR 21, 2009
Murky orange colour, pretty average head. Grainy and lightly caramelly with hints of milk chocolate like M&M shells. Unmistakeable Australian malt - as Chris says below. A touch of acetaldehyde and apricot which seems more like esters than hops to me (could well be wrong). Finishes pretty watery, but with noticeable astringency. No real hop character, and I think it needs it from a structural standpoint. It kinda starts with (fairly unremarkable, but decent) malt character but then just trails off into nothingness. It’s quite drinkable, but I’m not sure I really get the point at present. Actually it kinda reminded me of the Three Troupers beers. I love the idea of a local micro specialising in lagers, and having an amber lager as a first/flagship brew is a very good idea in terms of making your product stand out, IMO. Hopefully it’ll improve a bit with practice as theoretically it’s something I would buy a lot of.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 maneliquor (1187) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - AUG 15, 2011
UPDATED: NOV 16, 2011 Bottle courtesy of Nick. Pours a cloudy amber with a small white head. Nice citrus enveloped by caramel malts on the nose. Rather pleasant in the taste. On the sweeter side of things as far as lagers go but I don’t mind that. Toffee malts back the citrus in the taste. Good lager and wouldn’t mind a few more of these
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Jade (311) - AUSTRALIA - OCT 16, 2010
Amber golden colour, moderate carbonation and no head to speak of. Light aroma, actually quite fruity. Taste is a cloying, sweet flavour with a bitter after taste. I didn’t expect much, but its actually not bad.
1.6 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20 tom_clift (44) - Carnegie, AUSTRALIA - OCT 12, 2010
Keg. Lightly flavoured lager with sulphury notes. Not much to it. Light hop bitterness, didn’t really get any hop aroma.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 bluebetty (880) - AUSTRALIA - MAY 31, 2010
Bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy golden amber with nice billowy head. Plenty of sweetness in the aromas and some resiny hops. Not too bad. Flavours are much the same with some hop spicenss offset by grainy malt. OK beer. Like the label for what it is worth.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Davros (1018) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - MAY 27, 2010
Pours golden amber with a huge head fed by lively streams of carbonation.
Aroma is light, comprised mostly of spicy, grassy hops (presumably noble, lots of saaz perhaps?) with clean sweet malt in the background. The label just says "lager" but this is definitely Bohemian pilsner territory.
Flavours include more grassy, spicy and lemon hops with sweet grainy malt taking over later and leading to a mild metallic bitterness.
Nice light body, high carbonation.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 hawthorne00 (1434) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - FEB 13, 2010
Bottle. Slightly hazy gold, white head. Very high bead. Nose has cereal malt, meadows, citrus and nectarines. Quite thick malt for the style with some citric bitterness - but rather less than suggested by the nose. Short, slightly sour dry finish. I suppose this an attempt to make an unmistakably identifiable Australia lager that’s not crap - and it’s very successful.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Maris (543) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - JAN 14, 2010
From a 330ml bottle on 15/1/2010. This is a bit of a confusing beer. A cloudy lager with oodles of yeast sediment, and a quite fruity aroma. Flavour wise, there’s just something missing. You don’t get too much more than a moderate lemony bitterness at the end. Overall, a fairly average experience.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 mkel07 (1806) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - JAN 9, 2010
330ml bottle. Clear honey gold colour with a mountainous beige head that is loosely packed. Well carbonated with peach and apricot aromas dominating but not overbearing. Crisp, refreshing taste with a good body. A well rounded package.
