COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With the re-release of our Common beer, Argus Brewery offers a very unique American beer. This type of beer was brewed in the San Francisco Bay Area from the mid 1800′s to the mid 1900′s, A hybrid style, it uses a lager yeast but is fermented at warmer temperatures typical of ale. Copper colored and medium bodied, Argus Ironhorse has full malt & spicy herbal hop flavors, producing a very unique character unlike any ale or lager.

10/18/13. 12oz bottle from a random ABC in Tallahassee. Gee, I should have guessed that the 3 Tallahassee tickers beat me to this bad boy! Amber pour, dark copper in a way, with a small khaki head. Metallic all over this bad boy - aroma and flavor. Malty beyond that, some biscuity, doughy aspects, and touches of caramel. Mostly pennies.

Tallahassee, Fl. - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - Betton - 12 oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy medium copper with a sticky off-white head that leaves plenty of lacing. Aroma has a light fruity essence to it with hints of wort. Flavor has some nice toffee accents, a hint of caramel, some nuttiness and a citrusy back end. Mouthfeel has a nice textured crispness to it. Very enjoyable.

I picked up a single bottle at the local grocery store. It gave a good-looking pour into my Larry The Git-R-Done Cable Guy glass. (Not sure where I got it from, but it’s roughly a Pilsener glass.) It has a deep bronze body with a three-fingered creamy head. The bits of lace are slippery, leaving the glass clean. The aroma is pretty much caramel corn and little else ’cepting some well water. The flavor is much the same, but has the addition of an earthy bitterness that lingers on the tongue. Probably my last.

Decent label on a standard US longneck. Clear, intense dark bronze with an immense, fluffy oatmeal head. Powdery, spicy aroma with a little roast peanut. Acidic, moderately hoppy - no fruit, not sweet. Like a dumbed-down doppelbock. Medium body, not much residual carbonation, a bit astringent, tinny-acidic aftertaste. I got the impression that the beer was actually fairly well executed, but I didn’t get what they were going for. ABC, Bull Run.

12 ounce bottle with aromas of light citrus, nuts and spice. Flavors follow suit with metallic aftertaste, not that good of beer when there are other options out there readily available for this style.

Dark red pour from bottle at Killmers. Tons of head. Malty and earthy. Just ok.

12oz bottle from ABC. Clear brown pour with a good sized head that dissipates quickly with lots of sticky lacing. Aroma is musty and spice. Tastes are toffee, caramel, nuts, citrus - has a tea vibe. Little bit tinny. Crisp palate. Pretty decent.

Rich amber/cider color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of malt, yeast, dusty hops, & grain; Flavor of malt, hops, grain, and some citrus; Dry finish and fairly bitter; Pretty decent.

A copper body with a tan head. Aroma had a nice sweet caramel malt presence upfront. Notes of corn and some biscuit. A slight peppery note and a generic hop bitterness. Flavor was initially sweet, corn malts were more pronounced and the mix of hops and spicy peppery notes were nice. Thin body and easy to drink. A good beer but needed less corn in my opinion. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Thanks to Dad for this. Overall pretty decent, less hoppy and more malty than Anchor Steam, the aroma I couldn’t get over it smelled a little like those lollypops that my pediatrician used to give out years ago, with the loop instead of the stick. Serving: Bottle
