750mL bottle. Poured deep brown with a short, but well-retained khaki head. The aroma picked up well-roasted, near-burnt black patent malts and coffee with accents of vanilla and wisps of smoke.. very good representation of the style. The flavor found dry-roasted black and coffee malts with light smoke and more roast around.. toasted grains and light herbal hop accents.. finished very dry with a nice final kick of sweet malts and fresh hops. Light-medium bodied and dry as mentioned on the palate.. a bit too much carbonation, but otherwise very good balance.. I really enjoyed it.

750ml bottle and served in nonik pint glass: Pours a medium brown hue with a huge frothy head and okay lace. The aroma has notes of roast, toast, bready, walnuts, light coffee, some leather esters and some herbal hops. The taste is pretty generic roast and nutty notes with a bit of bready and herbal tones. Slight fruity twang undertone. The mouth feel is far too over-carbonated and a tad light, slight ashy finish. Ho Hum brew.

750ml bottle from Binny’s Plainfield. Pours a deep brown, mostly black body with a huge, foamy, brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma has some chocolate and a moderate roast. Touches of caramel as well. Flavor is better. Smooth chocolates, a moderate roast, a light caramel, and some coffee towards the end as this finishes clean and roasty with a light bitterness and sweetness. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-thin body and a moderately lively carbonation. Overall, a decent porter. A tad thin and over-carbonated, but flavorful enough.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown with a slightly amber hue and a brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of roasted malts with a bit of coffee and backing dark grains that have a hint of sweetness. Flavor has a good amount of dark grains with a hint a bit of creamy coffee and a bit of dryness in the finish.
