Tallahassee, Fl. - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - 12 oz bottle. Dark orange pour, nice off-white head. Solid, patented spruce aroma. Nice bitter grapefruit notes with just a bit of caramel to balance it out, but tends to be a bit one dimensional. Slightly stinging mouthfeel.

Medium-dark brown beer, tan head. OK label, standard US longneck. Sweetish malt aroma, west coast hops, some cola notes. Candied notes up front, again gives me a cola impression, pleasant bitterness in the backend. Thickish mouthfeel, a chalky-sweet break, then the bittering hops move in for the kill. A bit on the acidic side. Maybe the tiniest bit of bitter chocolate lurking around in the flavor profile. Almost a black IPA. ABC Liquors, Bull Run.

7/20/2011: Argus Pegasus IPA... My notes are lacking, so either it was late in the day or I just didnít think very highly of this beer. Therefore, it must have been farily mediocre and unmemorable!

??? in Chicago, IL. Rating #52 for this beer.

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2015 At Park Tavern in Rosemont. A rather malty IPA, darker in color than many. Piney, herbal and grassy hops. Something tinny in the flavor too? Average IPA. Serving: Tap

Daft into pub pint. Clear amber brew iwth off white head. Aroma of malt, some citrus, resin and a little earth. Taste matches aroma - somewhat malty and not extreme in the hops, but solid citrus and resin finish.

Had it out of a bottle, pours with a thick, creamy, yellow head. Heavy malt taste with a slightly bitter hop finish. Has a very dark amber color, surprising for an IPA.

Tasted from a 12 oz. bottle. Poured a dark, redish brown color with a full head that disapated quickly without much carbonation. Malt aroma and taste with not enough hop for my liking.

While this isnít groundbreaking, I think itís a pretty solid beer. Nice sharp taste accented by interesting sugary sweet flavors that finishes quite clean. If youíre looking for "big IPA" this isnít it. But if youíre looking for a drinkable IPA, this would not be a bad choice. Many would call it bitter, but hop heads might want a bit more. My biggest disappointment is itís just a little too well behaved-- nothing about it is particularly prominent, unique or noteworthy. But itís really not bad in any significant way either. So, "pretty good IPA".
