Beer three of World beer Sunday imported from Greece. Pours a deep golden color with a decent white head that displays minimal retention and lace. Smells of bready malts with a hint of melanoid, smells quite German actually. This initially opened with intense aroma of skunk, but over the couple of minutes as I pulled up the listing those aromas are all but gone. Taste is caramel and burnt sugars, bready malt and little to no hop flavor. Medium body and level of carbonation with a sweet almost sticky mouthfeel. This one wasn’t half bad, or maybe it was just that much better than the last one. Sweet and malty almost to a fault and I could have used a few more hops.

Pleasant and likeable mediterranean pilsner interpretation. There’s a good hop crispness throughout, although this is really on the malty sweeter side. Not quite a Pilsner Urquell but wouldn’t rank it too far behind a Bitburger or a Becks. Went down well with a Greek salad and pretty refreshing in this 100 degree cauldron.

Pours gold with a small but lasting head. Aroma is of roasted malts, lemon, honey. Taste more of same and a little like a wheat. Smooth.

My second Greek beer. Pours hazy canary with small white head. Aroma is hopcit, honey (baklava, perhaps?), and some wheat. Tastes hopcity, with a nice honey malt presence which indeed reminds me of baklava that has been thrown in a blender. Medium palate, with a decent complexity. This one is good, and I’d have no compunction about quaffing it again.

Bottle. Not that bad of a drink. Poured much like regular old beer. A little dry, but the finish is actually quite nice. Drink this with some nice greek food and you’ll be set.

Bright gold with decent, creamy, white head / Sweet nose of grain and honey / Medium to full body, sweet and somewhat syrupy / Overbearing flavors of honey, corn, violets, and resin / This style of lager, common to Greek beers from my limited experience?, is just plain clumsy.

33 cl bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a crystal clear light golden color with a one finger thick white head. Light spotty lacing. Aroma is light grain and herbal hops. Oh yeah, it’s skunky too! Flavor is lightly sweetened grain and herbal hops. Doesn’t taste too bad at all. Light to medium body. A decent Lager.
