2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 cheapdark (2957) - Quiptown & Central Valley, USA - MAY 17, 2007
UPDATED: DEC 31, 2007 Let’s go visit Greece. 11 oz green bottle with a date code to use before 5/07. Purchased at the Evergreen in Rochester for $3.50. I was expecting a skunk aroma when I opened this but it had none. The only aroma it has is of uncooked bread dough with a little fruity perfuminess to it, pleasantly pleasing. The appearance is that of your typical pale yellow american lager but I think there is just a slight haze to it. The head is just a tea froth. Very little impact on the first taste, it is well behaved like a gentleman. Very lager like to say the least. Has some manners that are hard to find in many beers today. There is some mild pilsner bitterness that builds on the back of the throat as you continue to drink. Cannot taste much alky in here, it is well hidden. The back of the throat bitterness levels continues to rise and now I think I can detect some metallic hints in the flavor. Except for that odd building metallic pilsner bitterness, this beer is not too bad. As you finish this bottle the interesting bitterness seems to be the overwhelming attribute, tho not like the acrid bitter bite that is so common with many pale ales, this is more like the taste associated with a good pilsner. Many cheap american pale lagers match this in flavor and are much cheaper, Schmidt’s and Old German come to mind. However, good to try once and if it was not so expensive, I would not hesitate to buy again.

Meh. Nothing particularly good about it. It’s got the feel of a cheap beer. Bud light-ish. Goes down easily, but doesn’t have a lot of substance.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 seymour (782) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - APR 29, 2012
Tasted from 330mL green bottle into chilled shaker glass at Olympia Greek restaurant. Interesting Greek-themed graphic design added to the whole theme. Poured a predictable golden color with sudsy white foam, short-lived with no lace. Typical pale lager aromas and flavors. Mild malt, skunky hops, some mushy sweet corn flavor, light body, high carbonation, crisp and dry finish. Not very good, not very bad. Went fine with dinner, but surely benefited from the frigid temperature numbing my taste buds.

UPDATED: MAR 9, 2012 Got from a Greek restaurant. Bottle. Reminded me of skunky college beer. Nothing really of note.

Aroma is bread and grains with a hint of grittiness. The flavor is similar to the aroma. Definitely a macro pale lager in that it isn’t really unique, although it was decent in flavor, probably due to it being decently made.

Bottle - unable to pour out of bottle to see color, typical light lager flavor; the Mythos I had right before was a little better
2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Bif (620) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - JAN 20, 2012
Bottle- Pours a clear golden color with a billowy head that fades quickly to some lacing. Aroma of malt sweetness, grain and a bit musty. Sweet taste of malt and some grain with a mild bitterness and a slightly sweet finish. Light body, mild crispness, fairly smooth with a bit of a grainy texture. A run of the mill Euro Lager, unoffensive and goes best with food.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Finhead (704) - OFallon, Illinois, USA - JAN 4, 2012
A pale yellow pour with a very thin, white head. The aroma is nearly all skunk. It has a light body with watery texture and lively carbonation to go with the bland taste. This is just another crappy, European pale lager.

Bottle. Pour is light yellow with a white head. Aroma is bland malt and yeast. Faint floral hop. Flavor is quite watered down with hints of malt and yeast. Terrible. At least the bottle/ label was OK.

Typical run of the mill pale lager. Even in it’s stupid green bottle it managed to get here relatively intact. Aroma was sulfur and dirty fee (think eating a few hard boiled eggs and releasing a hot fart). Sorry that’s the aroma I’m getting. Pour was a nice clear gold with plenty of rising bubbles and a one finger white head. Taste is pale lager. Not too sweet and not much flavor but in the pale lager world that’s a good thing. Nice spritzy carbonation.
