draft. Pitch black, small brown head. Nose is coffee, slight hint of vanilla, roast. Tongue is medium sweetness, some hints of roast underneath. Creamy mouthfeel with vanilla beans, slight moccha. Heat from the peppers is not quite there. The barrel adds layers of complexity on top of the original. This is very nice. Reminds me a lot of Mikkeller BGBW bourbon. Very nice!

Growler pour. Looks like melted dark chocolate, thick and inky. Hardly any head, though it is from a growler, so its a little undercarbed. Tangy dark fruit leads the nose. Prune? Its spicy and tangy. Red grape, molasses, a hint of anise and vanilla also poke up. A smooth blend. Tangy whiskey in the flavor, alongside raisins, green wood, vanilla bean, dark chocolate, toffee and a hint of roast. Just a touch of chile flavor and heat. Toasted wood, too. Thick, sugary medium-full body. Very low CO2; no noticeable alcohol. Tastes overall like bourbon-soaked, smoked raisins. It exhibits nice whiskey flavor without the bite, but loses some of the chocolatey and chili notes I liked in the un-barreled version.
