COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Dubbel, or double, is the second beer in our monastic series. The following flavors are appropriate while explaining this Belgian influenced ale: Fig, chocolate, raisins, rum-like, dates and prunes. However, NONE of these products are in the beer! This is a beautiful harmony between the unique Belgian derived yeast, and the continental malts that make the tongue dance for joy. Short of "pinkies in the air," this is a fine crafted ale that has history as rich as this beer itself. As you sip, imagine yourself on the Belgian and France border, sipping this fine ale as the day’s work in the barley fields comes to a tiring end.

Dark brown with reddish hue pour and small off white head. Aroma of malts, bread dough, slightly fruity. Taste of bready malts, slight prune, hint of caramel, Belgian yeast. Medium bodied, higher carbonation, perfectly balanced, slightly dry peppery finish. Nice solid dubbel!

On tap at the brewery. Pours dark, clear, mahogany with a light head that dissipates quickly. Light raisin, dates, and burnt sugar on the nose. The taste features a moderate plum tone, some brown sugar, light cinnamon, and dry clove and light bitter hops on the finish. Roasted malt takes over as the beer warms and is accompanied by a slight booziness. Solid dubbel.

Draft sample. Nice brown pour with ruby highlights and a small tan head. Aroma is baking chocolate and dark malt. Flavor trends towards the bitter side of espresso with some spice. A touch of booziness too. Good.

On tap: The aroma consists of raisin, figs, light chocolate, light brown sugar, and a hint of roasted nuts. It?s a transparent brownish-orange with a small off-white head that fades to a thin ring. The flavor starts with raisins, figs, and a touch of brown sugar. There?s a touch of chocolate in the middle. The finish has light citrus, a hint of roasted nuts, and spice. It?s medium bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel.

Poured up on tap at Wilderness where it has a very nice looking deep crystal clear ruby red body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma is sweet with prunes and smooth figs and then lighter vaguely hoppy notes cut into the sweetness near the end of the draw. The taste has rich flavors of prunes, figs and a bit of brown sugar. It does maintain a slight tartness and hop bitterness to attempt to balance off the heavier sweeter notes. Toward the finish some roasted malts take over along with a sliver of nuttiness and create a nice balance against the sweetness into the finish. I enjoyed the degree of roastiness presented here.

Dark red pour, aroma from yeast is subtle which I like. Slight figgy, prune taste, but nothing over powering. Admittedly these belgian styles are not my favorite, but I could definitely drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Well this is an incredible a ample of the style. Pours a nice brown color with a perfectly sized light head. Aroma has some nutty and sweet scents but it certainly doesn’t smell sweet. And the flavor is spot on. Dates, figs, light brown sugar, some dark bread, and the finish is dry and beautiful.

Growler pours a reddish brown with a medium sized tan head. Aroma of spices, candi sugar, figs, belgian yeasts, bananas and cherries. Taste is spices, banana, candi-sugar, hops, dark malts, esthers and yeasts. Most dubbels are pretty sweet, this one walks the line between sweet and dry..... and I really appreciate how it’s not too cloying like most are. Really nice beer.
