Look into the heart of the history of beer and you will find the porter. The details can be sought out on your own, just know that you are drinking the true working class style of beer. Porter made it through two Industrial Revolutions and revived in San Francisco in the 60ís thanks to Anchor Brewing Co. The beer is meant for pub drinking and not meant to be a super sought out beer. The chocolate notes, velvety mouth feel and burnt caramel notes are solely malt derived. We added some smoked paprika to add a slight note of sweet smoke in background. In our humble opinion Porter doesnít need any help so itís just to make this a more unique beer.

Draft at brewpub. Black with a creamy beige head. Light body, maybe a bit thin. Quite Smokey actually. Could easily be a smoked porter. Dry cocoa. Very mild sweetness. Not much roast. Quite easy drinking, flavorful porter.

Smells and tastes like a pretty standard mildly roasty porter except for the mouthfeel is a bit more watery than I care for.

>> Deep brown pour, huge 360 lacing. Gray foam. Huge chocolate and coffee nose, robust for style. Taste is clean, low abv coffee stout, slightly ashy, low body. Taste is clean but ultimately very thin. However for abv the aroma is great and bitterness is balanced, no sugar.

Pours with a dark mahogany body that has a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts, caramel malts, a bit of nuttiness and then a dash of burnt malts. The taste has big dark roasted malt notes mixed with a slight burnt malt note, faint chocolate and caramel like malts. There is a bit of spiciness floating around in there back in the background but Iím not able to pin a descriptor to it. Nice roasty forward Porter.

Dark brown pour with a tan head. Aroma is roasty and mild chocolate. Taste is chocolate, light and refreshing with that smoked paprika just enough to register. A nice and easy drinking porter. Well done.

Growler. Light coffee and chocolate aroma along with roasted dark malt and a smoky hint of paprika and charred oak. Pours medium cola brown with red highlights. Fairly roasty taste with a dark soil tone followed with subtle bakerís chocolate and sweet cocoa and a faint whisper of smoky spices. Light body with an incredibly smooth finish. A very easy-drinking porter; the chocolate flavors and creamy palate help smooth out the roastiness.

Wow. I often find myself saying this about beers here at AZW. And this porter is equally as good as any porter Iíve tasted. The fact that these guys out their heart and soul into every beer shows. And this one is special. The dark brown pour lends itself to a perfectly creamy tan head. The aroma is beautiful. The lightest hints of the smoke paprika dance around and the roasted malt, chocolate aroma and slightest espresso notes give clues to the flavor. And upon first sip you are met with a remarkably creamy porter. Slightly sweet, perfectly roasty, the smallest dashes of smoke. A certain prune/molasses flavor alongside the chocolate malt. And the finish is roaring with flavor just as it dries out. Stunning example of a porter.
