The 3rd beer in the monastic series. This tripel represents all the elegance of Belgiumís influence upon the beer world. Think of the malt as the canvas and the Belgian yeast as the artist. Notes of banana and pear float off the soft white head derived from high quality pilsner malt. As the beer warms notice the spiciness that this beautiful yeast imparts into the beer. A light dosing of Tettnager hops adds a slight bitterness which helps keep the sweetness of this beer at levels of pure enjoyment. At first glance, this is a simple beer with no specialty malts and little hops used. Then take a sip. This isnít white wine, this isnít an IPA. This is a showcase of beauty in a glass, and proof that beer is earthís greatest beverage.

Smells like yeast and a bit of banana, like a hefeweizen. Taste is banana, Belgian yeast, malt, and mild hops. Medium body, medium carbonation, and some foam.

on draft at the brewery, a decent triple. The mouthfeel on the thick side and yeast esters are almost spot on, Its the booziness that makes it difficult for me to finish the sample, its just not my style, not a bad reflection of the style.

A golden ale with a thin creamy lacing white head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with herbaceous character, light coriander and curacao, light fusel notes, OK. In mouth, a sweet fruity caramel malt with candy sugar, herbaceous character, grassy hops, light mineral notes, coriander and curacao, alcohol warmth, pleasant if a bit too grassy for me.

Draft. Poured hazy golden color with an average frothy white head that lasted with good lacing. Complex yeast and malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet flavor with a medium to heavy yeast sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a refreshing solid beer.

Average beer. Slight malty and yeasty nose. Pretty dark copper color. Medium weight palate with a wine feel to it. Flavor was slightly sweet and alcoholic malt. Main issue was that the Belgian character did not stand out. Overall, just OK.

Growler thanks to Josh! Pours a clear orangish gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has earthy grain and a bit of sweetness that is backed by some earthy fruits. Flavor has lots of earthy sweet grain with a bit of bread and a yeast note.

Vibrant orange pour with average white head. Aroma of citrus and very mild spice. Flavor is super smooth, citrus driven and slightly lemony. Very awesome.

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2014 Draft at brewpub. Pours clear golden amber. Small white head, minimally lasting. Fruity, yeasty, banana, clove, bubblegum. Nicely hidden alcohol. Thankfully not sticky or syrupy. Fairly sweet, moderate bitterness. Good balance. Not overpowering. Very nice. Iím convinced...

On tap at the brewery. A - pours a golden orange with a light finger if off white head. Virtually no lacing. S - good spicy Belgium yeast. Pepper, cloves, bubble gum, white wine grapes, banana esters, pear, honey dew melon, buttered popcorn, dry cleaning chemicals and the pilsner malts all show well. Some musty farmhouse also persists in the back of the nose. M - medium oily bash with a sugary medium to heavy palate. Good carbonation. T - Belgium yeast, bubble gum, and pilsner malts are up front. Fruity esters follow. Banana, pear and melon all show in the middle with a resurgence of the malts. Honey and rose hips too. Ending is pepper and cloves with fruits lingering. some alcohol in the end with zinc accents. Not a tripel person but this was very enjoyable.
