COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Seasonal - Summer.
Just the beer for those long evenings, Summer Ale is refreshingly light in both colour and taste. In fact, it is suited to whatever weather the British summer has to offer and has been a favourite with Arkell's drinkers since it was introduced in 1994.

[Cask at GBBF, 2004] An orange beer with no head. The aroma is very light - what is there is hoppy. The flavor is wheaty and hoppy with a dry end.

Cask@GBBF2010. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is citrus, some bready malts, a bit mild wooden notes as well. Flavour is much the same along with a slightly sappy finish. A bit watery, otherwise decent.

Cask at GBBF 2010. Lovely golden colour with a thin white head, plenty of citrus and malt in the aroma. The taste is hoppy with plenty of citrus fruit again, with a dry finish.

Great summery hop cereal balance on the nose. Metallic and sulphurous not wholly pleasing on the tongue. No hop dryness there really. Vaguely unsettling.

Cask gravity @ Reading Beer Festival 2008.
Clear medium orange color with a small to average, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, moderate hoppy, citrus - orange, notes of toffee. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. (010508)

(Cask handpump at The Wellington, Birmingham). Perfectly clear, still, amber in appearance, with a short head. A very strong fruity, peachy scent. Bitter with a very dry end. Some sweetness. Rather lacking in taste: some biscuit and earthiness in there. Simple and slightly sour, which detracts from the taste after a few mouthfulls.

Cask at White Hart, Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire. Mid to dark gold with a small white head. Hoppy aroma with a whiff of sulphur. Sweet vinous taste with some biscuit and a little sourness. Pleasant bitter finish. Not bad.
