2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 dantheman278 (965) - SCOTLAND - MAY 17, 2012
Bottle at Teviot. Black pour, no head. Think there might be something wrong with this... massive liquorice, tart berries in the nose. Dry liquorice front, hint of oatmeal, berry flavours and just a hint of piney hops. Meh.... further down the bottle, actually this is pretty horrible. Cidery. Massive liquorice, mould flavours even. This is not ok.

On cask at The Congress, Longton, Staffs. It was certainly different if it was supposed to be a stout. More of a darker bitter with smoky aftertones. A pleasant ale but certainly not a stout as I know them.
