Thin bubbly head which reduces quickly to pretty much nothing. Minimal carbonation. Dusty, dry, bitter aroma with a touch of roastyness. Color is a dark amber. Woo. Pretty thin palate with a dry bitterness. Almost like peach pits. That dry and bitter. Little grainy and chalky. Bitterness at the finish. Not a very good brew. Unlike what the description says, this is not a heavy beer.

this is like a smokier and deeeper vertion of blonde i assume. but in all asspects its not. Its a nuce beer w9ith burntness and banter in there, but i expected a stout and its not.

Deep copper hue. Quickly dissipating off white head. Somewhat unpleasant stinky feet-like nose. Nutty, toffee, faintly sweet. Light to medium body. Hops come in on the end, providing a somewhat astringent finish. Bitter hops, faint malt, not too exciting brew. I wa hoping for more. I must try this one on cask.

IslandHaole (1091) - Yokosuka-Shi, Kanagawa-Ken, JAPAN - APR 10, 2005
A clear light brown color with foamy tan head. Dusty, a bit of a seaweed scent (peat?) some floral tones. A spicy hoppiness with a sweet middle, a touch of smoke. Very thin bodied with little carbonation. Not a standout beer but bonus points for mentioning Pagan on the bottle! Even though it is used in an odd manner. Thanks Per!

MaiBockAddict (1497) - Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA - FEB 13, 2005
0.5 l bottle. Orange-brown, tan head. Very fruity and hoppy aroma, with some of the malt winning through. Flavor is more to the hoppy side, with the malt almost providing balancce, but not quite. Some carmel in the flavor behind the sharp hops. Very light on the palate.

Bottle. Deep amber in color with a little thin head. Complex aroma. Lots of stuff going on. Light roasty flavor. Nice hop bitterness. Nice palate. Mouthfeel is pleasant. Decent beer.

bark (255) - Linköping, SWEDEN - FEB 1, 2005
Bottle. The colour is brown-red, the liquid is clear. The foam is white and very thin, making the brew look a little sad.

The smell is loaded with a complex and rather tricky, chemical flavour of hops. I found notes of bitter lemons, bitter almonds and a touch of yeast.

The carbonation is rather mild giving it a nice, soft feel. The small bubbles make it more like a cask beer than a bottled brew.

The taste is dominated by the bitter and aroma hops, but the somewhat sweet malt gives it a good body and a balanced tasting experience. The aftertaste is a bitter one with a complex, dry taste.

This is a session beer that might need some time to get into, but it is worth it!

Dark amber colour. Small head. Hop and gooseberry-aroma. Light roasty flavour, slightly peaty. Good hop bitterness. A bit thin.
