Jonte (365), Gothenburg, Sweden Dec 30, 2007 Updated: Jan 29, 2008 Bottle. At The Flying Barrel, Gothenburg.
Brown/red color with a small off-white head. Aroma: Sweet and lightly toasted malt, figs, citrus, yeast and caramel. Flavor: Lightly roasted, light hops, citrus, yeast and sourness. A bit thin and watery, but still not bad. Reminds me a bit of a cask ale.
Papsoe (9980), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 17, 2008 (Bottle 50 cl) Pours an almost clear amber golden with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel and....fish? Somehow very British. Light in body, notes of caramel, fruit and vitamin-C - and perhaps some overripe sweet fruit also. Very discreet bitterness in the finish. 160808 porterhouse (915), Alna, Maine, USA Jul 22, 2008 (500 ml bottle (best by end of 1/08) from Tully’s) Pours slightly hazy caramel amber with two fingers of biege head. Fairly big aroma of caramel, licorice and some pine. Even caught a few whiffs of Scotch at first. Mouthfeel fairly smooth but a touch fizzy and thin. Flavor of caramel and licorice with some pretty strong earthy and peaty undertones. More earth and peat than I’ve tasted in alot of Scotch ales in fact. Malty and peaty but a bit too weak. A pretty nice flavor profile - if only this were bigger and beefier. Bitterness builds toward finish and provides a light-medium hit at the end. More a Scotch in character than a bitter IMO but falls short with the low ABV and lightness. daniele (721), Italy Jul 10, 2008 ambrata schiuma non molta mediamente persistente sentori erbaceiterrosi maltati tostati floreali erbacei luppolo poco in bocca buon malto tostato leggero caramello una lieve nota dolce un luppolo presente ma non molto aromatico e marcato KimJohansen (3026), Copenhagen V, Denmark May 12, 2008 Hazy amber with tiny off white head.
