Cask; Seasonal - December to February.
A smooth malty brew with a pleasant hop character. Fireside has a bitter sweet finish with a hint of ginger.

On cask @ the Bow Bar. Pours dark amber with a proportionate head. The nose has spices - dried orange and cinnamon I get. The taste has more of the same and now I get the ginger. The palate is medium bodied with a medium thick texture and a decent clean finish. Overall, the best I’ve had from Arran.

On cask at The Bow Bar. Pours a dark golden colour with a lovely ginger aroma. Similar ginger flavour upfront with caramel and light grassy hops. Nice.

First tasted this in Chestnuts Hotel, Ayr in January 2004. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear ruby red in colour with a thin off white head. Cloves in the short but intense aroma. Thin mouthfeel and good lacing. Mixed malt base gives a range of flavours with aromatic spices, cloves, redcurrant fruit and weak ginger beer. Spicy hops give a resiny aftertaste which leads to a rather dry smokey finish. An interesting ruby ale but hard to find.

[cask at the Stockbridge Tap, Edinburgh] One of the lesser-known Arran ales. Malty aromas from a nut-brown ale with a decent white head from the sparkler. Does weight towards the 80 shilling end of the spectrum – reasonably rich mouthfeel, caramel malt and a sweet finish. Some vague gingeryness about it, but nothing major [15022009]

Cask handpull at County Hotel, Ashford. Deep chestnut. Ginger from the start. No great condition either. I tend to like ginger beers, but this one is awful. Almost undrinkable. Ginger lemon shandy. Taste of stale dust. Pretty poor.

Cask at ’Spoons, Milton Keynes. Dark coppery brown. A nasty whiff of ginger in the aroma. Taste is also unpleasantly gingery with a background of Band Aid and proprietory medicines. Foul.

redish coloured ale, little smokey maly, sweet smokey malt with a satisfying linger

[cask at JDW] The aroma is sweet and malty, caramel, some fruit and a hint of ginger. medium body, finish is dry and leaves a bit of ginger on the tongue.
