A smooth malty brew with a pleasant hop character. Fireside has a bitter sweet finish with a hint of ginger.

Cask conditioned & on Handpump at the Derby CAMRA winter beer festival on 10/02/05. Deep rich brown colour. Strong fruit syrup flavours. The ginger comes over more in the aroma than the taste. Dry lingering aftertaste. Very nice, but would get a bit much if you drank lots...

On cask @ the Bow Bar. Pours dark amber with a proportionate head. The nose has spices - dried orange and cinnamon I get. The taste has more of the same and now I get the ginger. The palate is medium bodied with a medium thick texture and a decent clean finish. Overall, the best I’ve had from Arran.

On cask at The Bow Bar. Pours a dark golden colour with a lovely ginger aroma. Similar ginger flavour upfront with caramel and light grassy hops. Nice.

[cask at JDW] The aroma is sweet and malty, caramel, some fruit and a hint of ginger. medium body, finish is dry and leaves a bit of ginger on the tongue.

Aroma is powdered ginger and hopy. Taste is reasonably balanced though shifting to the hopy side, maybe due to a little of the ginger still playing around.

First tasted this in Chestnuts Hotel, Ayr in January 2004. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear ruby red in colour with a thin off white head. Cloves in the short but intense aroma. Thin mouthfeel and good lacing. Mixed malt base gives a range of flavours with aromatic spices, cloves, redcurrant fruit and weak ginger beer. Spicy hops give a resiny aftertaste which leads to a rather dry smokey finish. An interesting ruby ale but hard to find.

Plain light brown beer with a fizzy and slightly ginger aroma. The flavour is again gingery, but light and watery. Overall the beer tastes like a watery ginger ale, I have to ask why make this beer?

[cask at the Stockbridge Tap, Edinburgh] One of the lesser-known Arran ales. Malty aromas from a nut-brown ale with a decent white head from the sparkler. Does weight towards the 80 shilling end of the spectrum – reasonably rich mouthfeel, caramel malt and a sweet finish. Some vague gingeryness about it, but nothing major [15022009]

Cask at ’Spoons, Milton Keynes. Dark coppery brown. A nasty whiff of ginger in the aroma. Taste is also unpleasantly gingery with a background of Band Aid and proprietory medicines. Foul.
